We Turned Out Golden - Nathan Sykes Fanfic

Chapter One

Me and my brother, Tom, were spending time at our grandparents house, I loved visiting them as it was always so much fun. Only this time wasn't very fun at all, not with the news we had just received..

"I'm so sorry" my grandma whispered, tears began to fall down my cheeks as I sobbed hysterically into Tom's chest. I couldn't believe what I had just heard, I looked up for a second to see Tom biting his lip whilst tears rolled down his face which made everything ten times worse, I'd never seen Tom cry before and I never wanted to again. We had just been told that our mum was involved in a very serious car crash, she was dead. Our mum was dead.

It had been a week since the accident and I was still numb. Me and Tom stayed with our grandparents since we thought the best thing to do at a time like this was to be with the family that we had left, mum had no brothers or sisters and our dad walked out on us just after I was born so we literally had no other family at all.

I felt a tug at my earphones and sat up to find Tom sat on the bed beside me. "Oh hey" my voice cracked, "Shannon, I think it's time we discussed where you're going to live" he sighed, I bit my lip to try and stop the tears. I lived at home with mum before she passed away where as Tom lived with his band mates in London, "I have no idea Tom" I cried as I threw myself into him, his arms wrapped around my waist as I sobbed. "Shhh, it's going to be okay" he comforted me, "we will get through this, I promise". After a minute or so I slowly sat up, "I've talked to the boys and they're all totally fine with it so I was thinking maybe you could come live with us?" Tom asked, "really?" I replied. "Yes of course!" Tom exclaimed, "well then, yes I'd love to!" I screeched as we embraced in a hug, I really did love his hugs. "We'll get your stuff from mum's tomorrow then get the train straight into London" he said, wow that was going to be emotional. We hadn't been in the house since mum died and although it was going to be difficult it had to be done.
