Chapter 6

The next day I wake up feeling totally better. I notice Derek isn’t next to me though. I see a note on the bed.

            “Abbey, you have the whole house to yourself. Aunt Joan and Uncle Jack took Adam to their cabin in Maine. They will be gone for a needed two week vacation. Since it’s almost Christmas, I am doing some shopping.

            I will be back in a few hours. When I get back you need to get dressed. Read this note and go to the place where we had our first date. From there you will find your next surprise. I think you will love it. I want you to have fun. Have a good few hours.

            Derek”

Wow. I think to myself. This will sure be very interesting. I look at the note one more time. I see an arrow leading to the other side of the page.

“Oh I forgot to mention. I got a nice outfit for you to wear. Nothing too fancy, but it’s pretty though. I want you to have fun baby. See you later.”

            I get up and head to my closet. I see the dress he put on my hanger on the door.

It’s a beautiful purple dress that I love. I see black heels and matching jewelry and earrings. He did a really good job getting the outfit out together.

I wonder what the day will bring for me. I am sure I will have a nice morning though. You can tell Derek likes to make good impressions.

I get ready to go in no time. I drive to where we had our first date at the Chinese restaurant.

            I go in and get seated. The restaurant is packed. I am happy Derek had a reservation for me. He is so sweet. I just can’t believe he is doing all of this at all. He is just an amazing boyfriend.

            The food is just so amazing. I love it so much. It’s just too bad Derek can’t be with me.

Twenty minutes pass by. I am finally done with my lunch. I loved it so much. The waiter comes to me and gives me some news.

            “Your bill has already been taken care of my dear.” He smiles and walks off. Just as I get up I see my father walk towards me with my mother behind him.

            “Mom and dad, what are you guys doing here?” I ask incredulously. They nod their heads and hug me for a minute.

            “We came home sweetie. Well, not for a long time. We have a couple days off of work. We thought we could spend some time with you.

            “That’s nice. I really missed you guys a lot.” I say with a smile on my face. I really have missed them. They honestly have no idea.

            “I am actually busy right now. I have plans with my boyfriend. So I can meet you back at the house in a few hours.” I say smiling.

            “Ok sweetie. We will see you later. We are going to eat lunch.” Dad says hugging me one more time. I can tell they actually want to spend time with me. They never have really spent time with me much. So I wonder if something is up or if they do just want to spend time with me. This is surely interesting.

I look at the tray that the waiter gave me. I turned it over and there was a little card. I took it off and smiled. I knew this is Derek’s doing.

I open it on my way out. It says: “Abbey, I know you have always wanted to ride in a limo. So, I got you one. Well rented one. You have your own driver named Pascale. Get in the limo and check in a basket. Don’t ask questions! Just do it. I love you very much sweetie. You will have fun, I promise you. I hope you like what’s in the basket.”

I go out the door and there is Pascale holding up a big huge sign. It says my name on it. I walk over to him and say “I’m Abbey, nice to meet you Pascale.”

            “Nice to meet you too Abbey. Here you go miss.” Pascale says opening up the door to the limo so I can get in. He is so kind, but then again, he has to be.

“Thank you Pascale.” I say getting in. I see the basket Derek was talking about. It is a big huge basket. I see a gift card for a twenty five hundred dollar shopping spree.

            It is to Macy’s at the mall. Oh, my gosh. That is so crazy. I love that store. I am going to have a fun day. I won’t want to leave ever. Way to go Derek I think to myself.

            I look and there are flowers and a box of chocolates. Yum, I like chocolates. I see another note. It is in a red envelope. He is so sweet. I am lucky to be with him. He is making me fall for him more and more each day that I spend with him.

“Abbey, this limo is leading you to the mall. I bet you are really surprised about the gift card for Macy’s. Julie told me you liked Macy’s a lot. So, she is meeting you there at the mall. She has planned some stuff to do. So, I will see you later. Love you a lot.

            Derek.

I love you too Derek I think to myself in my head. He is so cute. I am so lucky to be his girlfriend. This is a very good day.

            It looks so nice outside today. The sun is out and it’s not too cold. It hasn’t even started to snow yet. This is even better. I love the nice weather.

I get to the mall in about a half an hour. I take the liberty of taking a little snooze. I appreciate what Derek is doing for me so far today. He is being so sweet. I wish I could kiss him right now.

“Here we are Ms. Jenkins.” Pascale says with a smile on his face. I get out and grab my basket with my stuff in it.

            “Thank you very much Pascale. Here’s a tip.” I say handing him a twenty dollar bill. He smiles and thanks me. I walk off and head in to the mall.

            As soon as I walk in I see Julie waiting for me. I am so happy that she is here with me. We can shop together and I can spend more money.

            “Hey babe. Are you happy that I’m with you?” Julie asks me and smiles at me.

“Yes I am this gift card is worth so much money. You can help me spend it today.” I say smiling at her.

            “Yes I can. I could use a whole new wardrobe.” Julie says smiling at me.

We head in to Macy’s and start our shopping. It will be a very busy few hours. I am so excited to be with Julie. Let the fun begin.
