Chapter One
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Jake woke up with dried tear streaks on his face for the fifth time this week. He new this was ridiculous and stupid, but at night, when he was alone, laying in bed, staring at the ceiling for hours, he couldn't stop the tears from slowly cascading from his own eyes. He hated it, crying himself to sleep almost every night then going about his day like pretending to be the chipper young man he was supposed to be. He miss the days before the game; when he would wait for the sun to set and be up again before dawn to watch it rise. Now he was always to tired to wait for the sun to sink below the horizon, but, even so, he would lie still in bed thinking about everything he could have done differently, and ponder what his life would be like now if he hadn't order that bloody game. He just wanted to go back and redo it all.....
Jake got out of bed and went about his daily routine. Shower, make himself presentable, eat, then begin contemplating where to explore today. But today he couldn't focus of adventuring. All he could think about was what if I just disappeared and ended all of my regret? He sighed and began pestering Dirk.
GT: Well chum im not feeling so good today so i think itd best for me to stay home today and just get some rest.
TT: Are you sick? I can come over and make you some soup.
GT: No ill be fine. I just need to take it easy today. Im a... im going to... go lay down for a bit. Talk to you later.
Jake signed off before Dirk could reply and made his way to his desk. He pulled out a journal and retrieved a green pen from the drawer. He wrote for a few hours before it was finally done. He quickly made his bed and cleaned his small apartment. He grabbers his pistols and packed a backpack with food, ammunition, his small hunting knife and then left, leaving the door unlocked. It didn't matter if anything was stolen, Jake would not be coming back.
