As Shiki and I walked to the Moon dormitory, I couldn't help but ask him, ''What should I address you?''

''Shiki is fine,'' he replied quietly.

''Oh, alright,'' I turned the doorknob to my room, but it won't open. Shiki merely stared, not showing any signs of emotion or notion to help, as I tried turning the knob over and over again.

After countless numbers of tries, I got frustrated. "Oh wait, didn't the Headmaster give me a key for this dumb thing?..." I frowned and stuffed my hand into my bag, digging around without even glancing at it till I felt the cool sensation of steel. I took it out and unlocked the door with ease. "Well then," I grumbled.

"Hm," Shiki had an unreadable expression on his face as he watched me deal with the door. We walked inside and I scanned the whole room. It didn't look like the room I had in my house at all. It was a bit smaller and had little space, but not too little, just enough to fit all the things for school and the things I had bought along with me. Shiki took my bags that was on the floor and brought it to a corner. I walked around and opened the closet. There was a white uniform with black outlines hanged in it.

''This is our school uniform?'' I asked and he nodded in confirmation. ''Do you mind if I tried it on?" I asked.

''Whatever you wish.'' He replied monotonously as I went inside the bathroom and tried it on. I opened the door when I finished putting it on.

''Mm, its... Comfortable... '' I murmured as he took a short glance.

''It's nice.''

''Thanks,'' I shrugged in return before going back into the bathroom. I changed back to my normal clothes in the bathroom while he leaned against the wall close to the door. ''Want anything to eat? My backpack is a literal store, '' I chuckled as Shiki continued to stay still.

''I'm only interested in pocky—" He stated and I threw two packets of pocky at him. "You can have that,'' I said as I fed on a biscuit. ''Thanks,'' We ate silently for a few minutes.

''Can you tell me about yourself?'' I asked him and he shrugged.

''My mother is suffering from depression but she still has some sense in her, she used to be a great actress back then, you know that part. That's how I became a model and my father is dead. '' He muttered and I stared at him.

''Do you mind telling me who is your father? '' I asked. Of course I knew it was Kuran Rido, the brother of Haruka Kuran and Juri Kuran, parents of Kaname. I was told by the people who adopted me that he was the reason my parents had disappeared- they probably died in cold blood. I finished my biscuit quickly and Shiki gave me a small glance. ''Kuran Rido. '' He said and I snatched the empty box away from this hand and threw it into the bin. Of course I already expected it, but it was still painful to hear his name.

''Sorry... '' I muttered and stared at the window. ''That's not really a pleasant name I like to hear,'' I sighed and looked down at my hand. I shouldn't have asked.

I bit my thumb and blood poured out. It was flowing quickly to my palm so I stared at the crimson blood flowing endlessly out of the wound. I could feel Shiki's eyes burning into my back. No doubt he could smell and identify the scent of blood. After a few seconds, I turned back to look at him.

''You're resisting...'' I chuckled. "How surprising. I thought you would have a little less resistance. Your Father was..." I trailed off, looking down at the floor, unable to speak of that monster's doings.

''Of course I am, you're a stranger. I am well aware of how my Father is as well," He muttered and I couldn't help but smile.

''You want it, don't you?'' I asked and he looked away, sucking in a deep breath. I laughed, enjoying the sight of him slightly suffering. "Honestly, this is rather entertaining. But... it'll be mean of me if I made you suffer like this for my own reasons and not give you anything in return." I walked towards him and held out my hand. "You can take it, even if it's against the rules, consider it a 'nice to meet you and thanks for being my tour guide' present," I laughed. He looked at the hand for a moment before taking it into his own and bringing it to his mouth where the crimson blood flowed into his mouth. He dropped my hand upon finishing, lips stained slightly with my blood.

The wound healed quick. I stared at my hand for a second and looked at Shiki. He looked slightly pissed off at his lack of resistance and his eyes were back to his normal colour.

"Tch,'' He murmured and my acute hearing senses picked up with no problem. I couldn't do anything but grin at him as he struggled to maintain a poker face while an inner conflict arose in him.

It isn't common for vampires to take the blood of someone that they don't know very well. Since Shiki had barely known me for more than two hours, he probably felt that it wasn't right and what he did was out of place, in a way.

''You seem to hate my father a lot,'' He said in a matter-of-factly way once he had gotten over his small little internal argument and I sighed once again, my heart once again in turmoil.

"He killed my parents, or something. I was an orphan, left all alone from the day I was born, I think. Maybe I had parents who took care of me, who knows. I don't remember anything. My adoptive parents told me he was involved with my parent's disappearance. Plus, who wouldn't hate Kuran Rido? He's scum, '' I laughed as he nodded slowly in agreement.

''Although I have known Kaname since little, he used to be the strangest child I've ever had the chance of meeting before. I lived with him ever since my parents disappeared before I got adopted. We drank each others blood a few times but other then that, Rido drank mine before... That was the only part of my childhood I remembered,'' I murmured. "Oh. Since that bastard was your Father, I guess that makes you a half-blooded Pureblood," I wondered out loud and he nodded to confirm my theory. We made conversation, with occasional periods of silence. Talking about Rido, my past and his obsession with pocky... It was like we were friends already.

It wasn't long before I felt another unsettling presence. I took my gun out from my pocket and aimed it at the window, where I felt the presence was at. Shiki bit his finger and shaped his blood into a whip. He bent his knees, alert. We stood there, on high alert but I couldn't sense a thing anymore. Just as I was almost convinced that it was just a false alarm,

I felt it's presence right behind me.

I instinctively bent down and kicked the person behind me in where the sun does not shine. Shiki held it in place with his whip and I finished it off, shooting it with my gun. The vampire turned to dust immediately and as I recovered, a wave of nausea overcame me and I lost my balance, stumbling towards Shiki. He caught me safely in his arms, and after a few seconds, the nausea subsided and I sat up by myself. I rubbed my head with a groan as Shiki gently supported me, his hands on my arms.

''I'll call Kaname--''

''No, It's okay. I'm fine now, thanks,'' I assured and smiled before pushing him away gently. "It's probably because I haven't been involved in some physical activities lately. This is too much excitement for a night~"

''Keep your guard up. They've been increasing in numbers lately, no one is really safe because they don't know the dangers. Unlike us,'' Shiki stared at me, his eyes holding a warning and I nodded stiffly, uncomfortable under his smouldering gaze.

...

After that, I couldn't remember anything else. Only that he left after a few minutes and I found myself sleeping soundly on the bed, exhausted from the events of that night.

I guess I just made my first friend here, staying in this place suddenly didn't seem all so lonely.

Although, the world does love to take us by surprise.
