"I'm sorry, Lizzy."

And I hadn't even said a word.

VIII.|His Maid, Disabled|

Sunday Morning, Early February 1890
[Ciel's PoV]

(Btw, I'm gonna try doing a new style of writing, lemme know what you think)
I'm sorry, Lizzy. The words still rung in my ears. It'd been hours since that had happened, yet the image of her bloodied torso wouldn't leave my mind. My lips still tingled from the kiss.

I looked up at the clock that read 3:08. (IT'S LIKE 3:33 AM RIGHT NOW. I'M GONE.) Was it that early in the morning? At this rate, I only had a few hours left of sleep. My attention returned back to (Y/N). The large gash that spread across her upper body. She was a scarred woman now. No man would offer to marry her, and for that I felt a sense of pity. [1]

"Still awake, are we?" said the silken voice of Sebastian. I replied with a barely audible "yes". "Shall I clear tomorrow's schedule to allow you rest?"

I yawned. I hadn't realized how tired I was. "Tell me a story." I blurted. I allowed myself to blink. Once, then twice. Had I really just said that? My butler chuckled, sighing gently as he smiled and made his way to my bedside. "And what story shall I tell you tonight?" I shrugged, going along with the half-asleep words I'd said.

"There was once a man, and woman." he said. A simple enough story so far. "They had fallen deeply in love, but were forbidden from seeing one another by what seemed like Mother Nature herself. Every evening, and every morning, one chased after the other until finally, they were together." he paused, a smile tugging at his lips. "But they had committed a great sin. And because they did, they were forever separated."

Before I opened my mouth, Sebastian had put a finger up to his lips, silencing me. He continued with his story. "Although cursed for eternity, the two still loved each other from afar. They were forced to take different forms, and every night, the man would die in order to let his lover breathe. He would return the next evening, and the woman would willingly become trapped once again."

       "Did they have names?"

"Yes," said Sebastian. "Solis and Luna. The sun and moon." He chuckled to himself. "A rather captivating tale, is it not?" But I didn't respond. My eyes had begun to droop, and sleep took me into its dark, dreamless clutches.

I awoke with a start. A girl's scream echoed in my mind. (Y/N)? Not bothering to look for my eyepatch, I darted off my bed and I to the room where she was kept.

Her eyes were alight with fear in the split second she opened them. Soon enough, her (e/c) hues were closed as she trembled in her slumber. My heart was thumping out of my chest. What could I do?

(It's 3:41 am. I'll be back in the morning. Oyasumi-nasai.)
(10:05 am, Ohayou-gozaimasu.)
(Too lazy. 1:59 pm.)

(Y/N) mumbled something, thrashing back and forth in her sheets. Where was Sebastian?! I rushed towards her–– and her shaking stopped. She was still, her heavy ragged pants the only sound in the room. Then it was silent. My heart pounded loudly, ringing in my ears. Carefully, gently... I brought my hand to feel her heart.
