RUINS
A tiny wilted golden flower cowered against the wall, his tiny leaves covering his eyes. He quivered from petals to roots as a lithe yet frightening figure stood before him, banishing a rusty knife which caught the light dully.
"Oh, Asriel," it crooned. "Why won't you do it? I know how much you want a true body again."
"No!" he cried. "I won't let you hurt others! I won't! I W-O-N'T!!"
"Six have fallen already. Six. You helped them, guided them, lead them to the loner in the Ruins and guess what? They die. Wouldn't it be better to just, give up?"
The amused light in the stranger's eyes shone brighter. It twirled the knife in an almost casual way and began circling him as they talked.
"I value your powers, Asriel. Your ability to use pellets. Vines. Even the most subtle powers can be made to do something great."
"But, do you know what I value the most? Your power to RESET. The power of a GOD."
"You've got your own magic," he retorted, trying his best to hide his fear.
"You've got your own magic!" They imitated the flower in a high pitched voice, making him cringe. "That's where you are wrong. Our species never possessed magic. We could never tame it and use it as we wanted. We were forced to live in the same way as those filthy humans."
"Isn't Dr. Alphys -"
"DON'T SPEAK ABOUT THAT BRAT!" The flower ducked as the knife suddenly sliced the air, whistling before striking the wall behind him with an awful clang that hurt his head. The monster glared at him, eyes blazing with anger.
"That dratted scientist gave EVERYTHING to my brother! EVERYTHING!" The monster screeched as it kicked piles of stones across the dimly lit room. "Has she, or anyone ever spared a thought for me?"
"And now HE has all the powers! HE is the first true caster! All those years of research into one, stupid monster! ALL the magic was for him! HIM! The lizard should have at least split it evenly! Give others a chance to finally feel power!" She spat on the floor.
"If Dr. Alphys split it evenly it wouldn't have worked," he said hotly.
The monster snorted. "I deserved it more. That brother deserved to burn in hell."
"No more than you."
They didn't flinch, but they did turn to face him. "But that's not the reason why I'm here, right?" They smiled. A white, small, faded light grew in front of them, shaping into a heart.
"Oh nonono. No." The flower drew back.
"You can't escape. You're mine."
"No!" The flower flashed to the side as the Soul left the monster's fingers and flew towards him, only to bounce off the wall.
"Asriel."
"I WON'T!"
A vine shot out of the ground, grabbing the monster's arm, pulling tight.
They yanked their arm free. "You parents never loved you. Your human friend never did. Didn't you see what they've done?"
The flower faltered, memories coming back. The monster took the opportunity to leap through the air and grab one of their seven petals. A scream echoed as the Soul met the flower and the room was filled with white.
"From this moment on, I am Flowey. Flowey the Flower." The maniacal laugh shook dust from the ceiling as the room was left empty, a severed, dusty golden petal lying where they were just moments before.
Two years later, a human blew away the dust from the Ruins floor.
