MONIQUE

Okay, if you think Marissa's supposed to be that kind girl everyone says she is, she's totally not.

Well, to me.

She showed me her phone log, saying things like 'goddammit' in front of my name. That is so not kind.

The same unknown number kept appearing. Is that person her unknown crush? Or a secret boyfriend I never knew about?

....

HOW COULD SHE NOT TELL ME SHE HAS A BOYFRIEND?

But she doesn't know the number too... Okay, maybe she doesn't even know who her boyfriend is. Well, that made no sense. Or her boyfriend is some secret agent who needs to use multiple phone numbers so he won't get tracked. Yes, that's the one.

"No, he's not my boyfriend." That single phrase crushed my hopes and dreams. Just when I felt so happy for her, she's here stomping on my feelings.

"Right." I nodded. "Can we go now? Are you done doing whatever you were doing?" I frowned. She took too long, from waking up to preparing, and the shop might as well have no more breakfast by now. It's almost noon.

And yes, I did make a lot of noise in the morning. Now that I think about it, I don't think I actually needed that coffee. I just needed to be irritated by the fact that Marissa won't wake up and accompany me to buy my breakfast. Hm.

We walked out of the house and into the coffee shop.

Marissa and I were sitted down and talking about stuff but a random guy interrupted us as he sat on the spare chair beside us.

"You could've called me back or told me you were going to be here." The guy took his cap off. Is that...?

"Sam!" Marissa shouted and hugged him.

"You didn't tell me you were in town!" She looks so ecstatic. Elated.

"I tried. You didn't pick up." He stared at her dreamily. Guess he still loves her.

Marissa and Sam had a long past together. Sam, Marissa and I were friends. No, best friends. But Sam took a liking for Marissa, and they ended up together. They broke up, though. It didn't work out because Sam was moving out to another country. They ended in a friendly way though, so I guess it's good?

"You could've called me?" I questioned him. I didn't like it when Sam and Marissa dated. They tried to include me in events but it stopped after awhile. Keyword: tried.

Well, that dreamy look in his eyes are gone now. "Sorry, I didn't have your number." He smiled. Yeah, but you kept Marissa's. Thanks.

"It's fine. I'm going to the washroom. You guys have a nice chat." I stood up.

Marissa knows he's the type that cheats but she didn't care. It was rumoured in high school that Sam did it with a girl (not Marissa) in the toilet, that's why he moved. Marissa wouldn't believe it. When asked, Sam would just say no. He treats her nice, but I know Sam. He will do anything just to get what he wants.

When I got out, Marissa was sitting alone and looking out the window.

"What did he want?"

"He just wanted to say hi before going on with his life." Marissa looked back at me. "Sure. Not anything like he wants to see you again or wants to invite you to his place?" I prompted her.

"Why? He said he has a girlfriend. He just wanted to see how we were doing."

"Us, or just you? Because clearly, he has no interest in saying hi to me." I was irritated. Seeing his face just ruined my day.

"If his girlfriend saw how dreamily he looked at you, I bet she would've been jealous and caused a ruckus."

"Well, are you his girlfriend?" She asked. "No.."

"Then why are you acting like one?"

Silence... Oh god, how stupid can I be?

"I'm sorry."

Marissa looked me top to bottom. She looks pissed. Understandable since I kinda raged at her.

Just in time, two tall men walked into the shop. They look familiar too.
