King's POV
Ban and I were training the day after the incident at the fighting festival. We were in a forest clearing by the bar and Ban told me to attack him so he could dodge my attempts to hurt him.
I didn't want to hurt him, although he killed my sister, I forgive him but I don't trust him. Then again, I don't think I ever truly did. I changed my spirit spear to it's fifth form, increase, and aimed the daggers at Ban. He dodged them all with ease and kicked a dagger right towards my throat, but I stopped it before it could injure me.
"You think I can't handle it King? Now take this seriously, like you're trying to kill me."
"Why exactly should I be trying to do that?"
"Because I want to get better fast. Gotta crush the Holy Knights and take back the kingdom as quick as we can." Ban replied as he jumped up behind me and tried to throw me to the ground, but I stopped myself before the impact.
I smirked a bit before replying. "So you wanna take back the kingdom huh? Never thought I'd hear you say something like that. I always figured you didn't care about anyone but yourself."
"And weren't you kind of the same way too?" He asked as he spit into the grass.
"I suppose so, but in my case I happen to have a special objective, which is to help Diane out." I smirk as I close my eyes and lean against my pillow.
Ban's next statement surprised me.
"Well I have one of those too. Save the kingdom, then I can take the Trumpet of Cernnunos, seems like a pretty good reward to me."
I sat up and looked at the fox sin with wide eyes. No. He couldn't possibly mean to...
"You want the Trumpet of Cernnunos? That's a ritual device used to communicate with the goddesses, I don't get it. Why would you-wait..." My sentence began to trail off as I pieced together Ban's reasoning for trying to find the device.
He nodded as he replied,"Yeah, I'll call on em, and have them bring back Elaine!"
"Ban..." I trailed off once more. His anger was rising with every word he said. I began to feel sympathy for the greedy human, I finally started to understand him and Elaine.
"So keep it coming, bring it!" Ban yelled fiercely. Darn, I thought, I guess I have to accept him now. It's time, right Elaine?
I began to smile, only to see Ban literally shaking with anger and he bares his teeth and glared at me. I noticed that Elaine wasn't the only thing on his mind.
"You're worried about the captain, aren't you? I thought so, deep down, I feel the same way. I saw how the captain looked, it was like-" I was cut off by Ban grabbing me roughly by my navy shirt.
"Go ahead, say it! Just one more word, and I'll knock your teeth out!" He shouted angrily.
"But you saw it too! Don't you-" I tried to defend myself, but Ban wasn't having it.
"There's no way, the captain isn't a damn thing like that monster! Something like that, just can't be true."
I could tell he was thinking about the demons and Captain as he let me go. I felt sorry for him, he cared so deeply for him, but didn't want to accept the truth. That the captain was a demon.
"I still remember when the captain said I could follow him. Ever since the day I was born, people everywhere steered clear of me. I felt like my life had no meaning, but he didn't care about my past! The only two people like that in this entire world are him, and Elaine." Ban explained sadly as he sat down on the ground. I saw a couple tears make their way down his face.
"Three people, Ban." I whispered. The red eyed sin looked at me as I looked back at him. I flew over to him and sat down in front of him.
"Ban, I don't know where you came from or what happened before we met, but frankly, I don't care. I understand now that you didn't kill Elaine, she sacrificed herself for you. None of that matters to me, Ban, but even if I don't show it, you mean everything to me. I wish I could erase all of your pain, but I am merely a fairy. So all I can say is, I love you." I say to Ban as I place my hands on his shoulders and look deeply into his beautiful eyes.
Ban says nothing as he gives me a soft kiss on the forehead and pulls me into his chest and begins to cry. As he cries, I rub his back and whisper sweet things into his ear.
"We'll get through this, together." I say as I take his hand. Ban uses his other hand to wipe away his tears and he gives me a sad smile.
"Thank you King, I needed this. For someone to be there for me."
"I will always be here. But you can't keep living in the past, I realize that now. Ban, Elaine would want you to move forward and live your life, live it for her. To fall in love and be happy. You don't need the Trumpet of Cernunnos, you just need to focus on being happy." I tell him seriously. Ban pulls me in for another hug as I smile softly. He deserves to be happy, even if he is a thief.
