Roc’s P.O.V
Moonlight shone threw the cracks of wood nailed to the window. Silence had fallen all around, a chilling breeze brushing past my face. I pulled the hood over my head, clutching the material of my jumper in hopes to warm myself. Y/N stirred next to me, still encased in her deep sleep. Simply seeing her near me warmed my heart and made me temporarily forget all of our troubles.
Not having much, we were forced to live in a rundown, abandoned building. It wasn’t by any means a comfy place or somewhere to call home, but the safety it offered had us sleeping here night after night. I sighed, scanning the place and it’s small number of dust-covered objects. The guilt of being unable to provide constantly ate away at me.
What kind of man was if I couldn’t care for my own girl?
I lay back down and shuffled closer to her, linking both of our fingers. My eyes began to water and a couple of tears slipped down my face, the dark of the night shielding my pain. It was the only time I could let down my guard, I had to stay strong for the both of us.
A few minutes later, I felt a hand wipe my cheek.
"Chres baby…it’s going to be alright"
I could faintly see her face, her own eyes sparkling with tears. She smiled a little, kissing me softly on the lips.
"We’ll get out of this mess one day"
I winced and moved closer to her, relieving my body of the springs that were digging into my ribs. The mattress was broken and battered and it was starting to take a toll on our bodies.
But despite our current situation, we were lucky enough to have something many others never could. Love. We may have a lack of money, but we shared an unbreakable bond.
I pulled her closer, burying my face into her hair. We held each other, creating body heat and protecting ourselves from the cold. It was me and her against the world as cheesy as that may sound. We had nothing but each other. And one day when I had the money to provide for her and myself, I would ask her to be wife.
