Agent Hotchner strapped a bullet proof vest onto his torso. A gun was secured on his side, his badge weighing slightly in his back pocket. 'Deep breaths' he had to remind himself, trying to remain calm.

They decided if they couldn't get the kid alive, they might as well retrieve his body. Who knows if they'll even find it in one piece.

"You said you were in the woods? Heading west?" A police officer asked, securing his own vest onto himself. Hotch nodded and put his sunglasses on, darkening the world around him. A group of officers and patrol jeeps all fanned out, searching as far as they need to for the boy.

The woods was bustling this time today. Everything seemed to be running in fear. Magnus was catching a nap in the corner, completely unaware of the chaos around. Spencer dragged himself across the stone floor, whimpering softly with every tug.

"Look everywhere!" A voice commanded as people started to step around. Leaves rustled, branches broke, everything was human. Spencer sighed with relief, they'd find him.

But time passed, lots of time, and soon they were about to drive off. Any sound from Spencer would wake Magnus, and that would basically be a suicide mission. Then he remembered, the flashlight Jonah left him before he escaped Magnus for good.

With every bit of his strength, Spencer picked up the small object and threw it as hard as his skinny broken arm would allow. It clanked off the rocks and flicked on, blinding him momentarily. Magnus stirred, but didn't awake.

"Down there!" An officer yelled, tracking down the stone. That woke Magnus up. He grabbed a knife and ran over to Spencer, but before he could make it, a shot rang out and bullet embedded itself into his head. Magnus collapsed, the blood pooling on the ground.

Spencer sighed with happiness, letting sleep take over as an officer picked him up and carried him out.

Diana Reid anxiously paced back and forth in the briefing room at the police station. Agent Hotchner walked in, gently closing the door behind him. Hopeful, Diana looked up.

"We found your son. Alive." Hotch said, almost unexpecting the hug that followed those words.

"Thank you! Thank you!" Diana remarked, continuing to hug the agent. Hotch let it go, he knew she just got the news of a lifetime.

"My job ma'am. He's at the nearby hospital." Hotch informed, handing Diana her jacket and purse, smiling as she ran out and to her car. Reuniting families was the best part of the job, even if you didn't get to see it, you knew it happened.
