Fiery Infighting

Nikolas ran into the fire, throwing everything perishable out of the flaming house.  He rushed out of the house, panting.

"Where is it?  Where's the stone?"

"If you want the stone, you'll have to help us."

The shadow creature picked me up and raked its claws across my stomach.

"You're going to give me the stone or I'll kill you because I'm knackered of your tricks and you've made me narked."

Suddenly, the fire dissipated without reason, distracting Nikolas long enough for me to escape the shadow grasp.  I quickly created a fire vortex around myself to prevent anymore shadow mischief.

"You arsehole!  Now I'm right narked you nesh fool."

I opened a small gap in the vortex large enough to see each other.  "I'm not going to argue with you."

"Would ya guys stop it, ya gowls?"

My fire vortex was extinguished in an instant.

"I'm goin' head on and do the washing and ya better be agreein' on somethin' or I'll suffocate ya."

She left in a haste.

"Sorry about that, mate.  I forgot to mention that she can take the oxygen away from us if she gets off her trolley.  How about you give me the stone, I help you, we get this sorted, and Bob's your uncle?"

"You'll get the stone after the job is done.  I have a feeling that Miron and I will be canned for what's happened."

"That may be true but it's your fault, twit."

"You want the stone, you'll help us."

"Fine.  I'll help you lot but don't expect much charity."

"We don't need much."

I shot a gentle stream of fire to Miron's cocoon and melted it.

"Miron, Nikolas here has agreed to let us use his house for the foreseeable future."

"That's great, Motya."

Nikolas glared at me but I reminded him that he's living in my property.

Miron and I got what little remained from our house before driving to the backup residence.  Once we arrived, Nikolas caught up the rest of his family on the current events while we set our things up in the back room.  We only had the filing cabinet and its contents which were files over people and certain buildings.  Most of them were irrelevant since we have Stalin's last location and a recording of their conversations.  It took us a day to set up everything like it was before and to take note of what we lost.

The next few days passed by with little excitement and differences apart from the occasional angered glares from the Alfredsons when we came out of our office to eat.  They seem to have forgotten that they are only living here out of my generosity.  We had received mail with the Order's wax seal on it.  I hoped that it wasn't what I was expecting and we would still be in the organization but my hopes were crushed when opened.

~Motya Petrov and Miron Sokolov, due to your inability to follow instructions given to you from the grandmaster, both of you have been terminated from your positions within the Order.  All current missions are to be abandoned and forgotten.~

"Shit.  Miron, we've been canned.  Looks like we're going rogue from now on."

"Hasn't the grandmaster revoked all of our privileges such as the missions."

"He doesn't need to know about it."  I set the letter on fire and watched it burn.

"Motya, if we are caught, we will be executed like our enemies."

"Then we won't get caught.  We'll have to be stealthy."

"How can we do that?  Controlling fire and ice won't help and Chao is recovering from getting shot."

"Nikolas seems to be able to control shadows and Ena can take oxygen away from an area.  It's how she smothered the fire earlier."

"How does the help us?"

"Nikolas can get in and out of areas using the shadow to conceal him and the others while Ena can suffocate any enemies close to discovering us.  I guess you can say she'll take your breath away."

"Now's not the time for humor even though that was the best one today.  Let's go and recruit them."
