“Stupid freaking moving,” I grumbled as I pulled out some CDs from a box and stacked them onto my shelves. My door burst open as my golden brother, scratch that, golden half brother crashed onto my bed.
“So sis, ready for school? I’m gonna be a SENIOR!!” He grinned at me, his white teeth flashing against his dark tanned skin.
“Yeah, so excited. I’m gonna be flipping Freshman.” I glared at him.
“Aw don’t be so glum, anybody bother you, you come to me and we can beat their asses together.” At that thought I cheered up a bit, which of course he noticed. “That my goth girl.” We bumped fists and he left, probably to go video chat with his friends. Another difference between us.
Just out of boredom, let’s list them. First of all, he’s like tall, tan, good looking, and popular. Me on the other hand, I’m short, just reached 5 foot barely, super duper pale, my face is half hidden by my crazy bangs, and I’m a goth. Second, he’s the biological son of my adoptive parents. Yup, I’m adopted. Third, he has friends while I prefer being on my own.
Anyway, freshman year. The very thought of it sends shivers down my back. That and a new town with new people. Gods, I hope there’s goth group. I need my source of darkness in this godforsaken bright place. I glared at the remaining boxes in my room. I already hung up all my clothes in my beautiful black closet with amazing spider web detail. All I had left were books and CDs, but damn I had a lot of them.

“Mom, I’m heading out to look around,” I shouted through the back door where she was arranging some gnomes.
“Of course, go have fun dear,” she called back. “Does Grumpy look good to you?” I stared at Grumpy from Snow White and the Seven Dwarves and gave her a thumbs up. Why she loved gnomes I would never know.
I headed down the street which led to the town center. There were several clothing stores but they were all “Goodbye Summer” and horrifyingly bright clothing. I walked through the fancy stone arch which in my opinion looked horrible, but I’m not mayor. There wasn’t anything interesting down Pink Avenue so I turned left and headed towards a cafe that looked slightly less bright.
The decoration was pretty simple and modern with a lot of abstract metal decoration things hanging off the ceiling. I walked up to the counter and stared at the brown signs advertising the food.
“Hi, can I help you?” An extremely bored voice broke through my thoughts. Shaking myself out of my reverie, I look to see a goth looking girl staring at me.
“Erm, I’m going to have the mint chocolate latte,” I mumbled.
She nodded and went to prepare my order. “So you’re new here?” I glanced at her in surprise, she shrugged.
“Uh, yeah. Just moved here a couple of days ago.”
“What year?”
