new cover template is by @classy_stiles so I owe a big thank you to her.

also,  it has been brought to my attention that I haven't mentioned her step dad since the first chapter.  to be honest, I forgot about him.  I will be working him back in in this chapter so I'm very sorry about that.

The wind blew through my hair as I sat on my blanket, watching ducks swim by and waiting for Ethan to meet me with our food. Time kept ticking by and I was starting to wonder where the hell he was. I looked down at my phone and clicked it on, checking the time. School had ended about forty five minutes before. I ran home to grab a couple of things before I went to the park, so I had been at the park for about 20 minutes. Obviously he had to wait for the pizza, but I would think he would be done by then.  Just as I was about to call him, I watched his car pull up.  The hot boy climbed out with a box of pizza, two bottles of Coke, and some napkins.
"It's about time, Dolan," I laughed. He chuckled and came over to my blanket, setting down the food.  He sat down with his legs out in front of him and looked over at me.  "What're we waiting for?  I'm hungry."  With that, we tore into the pizza box and grabbed our slices.
"So. was algebra any more understandable today?" Ethan asked in between bites.
"I guess you could say that.  You were quite distracting though."  We laughed together and kept eating.  Finally, I wiped off my hands and put them behind me, holding my upper half up with them.  I looked around at my surroundings.  The wildlife in the pond, the wind blowing the plants, and then Ethan.  Somehow, he was able to fit right in with those things. They were parts of nature- all beautiful in their own ways, just like Ethan.  No matter how cliché it sounded, it was true.
"Take a picture, it will last longer," he joked, gesturing towards the Polaroid camera I had grabbed at my house. I blushed and giggled a little bit, picking up the camera.
"I brought it to take pictures of nature, not you, you dork." I held the camera up to my face and snapped a couple of pictures. Photography was one of my many hobbies that I sucked at, but liked to pretend that I could actually do.
All of a sudden, Ethan snatched the camera from my hands and pointed it towards me. "Say cheese," he ordered, in a serious tone. I bursted into laughter and held my hands over my face.
"No one says cheese these days. Keep up, Ethan."
"Pleeeeaaaaase let me take one picture," he whined, holding the camera to the side of his face.
"You'll waste my film!"
"I don't care!" he replied, acting childish. What a goof. I caved in and grinned, covering my eyes back up. I almost looked like the monkey emoji. Ethan took the picture and handed me the film after it came out. I shook it and blew on it, waiting for it to finish developing. He looked over my shoulder when it was finished. "It was worth the film." I shook my head and handed the picture to him.
"I get to keep it?!" he asked, acting surprised.
"What do you think I'd do with it?" I asked, rhetorically. That brought up a question in my head- what did I think he would do with it? He stuck the picture in his pocket and gave me one of his goofy grins.  Suddenly, my phone began ringing.  My mom was calling.
"Addison?" she greeted, as soon as I picked up.
      "Yeah?"
"I was thinking we could go see a movie tonight.  John is working late, but I'm not, surprisingly," she told me, bringing up my stepdad.  I haven't told you much about him, besides the fact that we don't get along too well.  I guess I forgot about him- he is irrelevant. He met my mom at the hospital, where they both work as surgeons.  My mom is very happy with him, but I'm certainly not.  "Where are you right now anyway?"
"I'm at the park with Ethan, but I can go with you after," I explained, which caught his attention.
"Well the movie starts in an hour and a half, so be home within the next hour," she ordered.  I nodded, forgetting that she couldn't see me.  "Well?"
"Oh, sorry.  I will be."  We said goodbye to each other and hung up.  I explained what was going on to Ethan.
"Let's cherish this last hour, then," he joked.
The time flew by way too fast.  Before I knew it, our time was up and I was expected home within the next ten minutes.
"I've gotta go," I told Ethan, standing up from the blanket.  He stood up a few seconds later, taking our things off of the blanket and folding it.
"Tutoring tomorrow?" Ethan asked, handing me my things.  I nodded, excited at the idea of more time with him.  He gave me a side hug and walked me to my car.  "See you later, Addison."
"Bye, Ethan."  I shut my car door and turned the radio on, pulling out as Ethan got in his own car.
As soon as I walked in the door of my house, I was amid a heated argument that was taking place in the kitchen. My mom was screaming at my step dad, calling him an "asshole" and many other names. I set my keys down quietly and tip toed to the couch. I was intent on finding out what they were arguing about.
"She's a fat ass, Elizabeth.  She sits around and doesn't do anything.  You need to make her  work out and eat better.  Not to mention, she needs to get her grades up and get some better judge-"
"Will you stop talking about my daughter like that?!  She's not doing anything wrong.  Maybe if you cared about her enough, you'd know that she is seeing a tutor now!" my mom shouted, furiously grabbing her things.  "I'm going to go spend my night with someone I love.  When I come back, you better be gone.  I mean it," she yelled, pointing in my step dads face.  I didn't even care that he was talking about me.  At that point, he had already made me feel awful about myself so many times that his words no longer meant anything.  I couldn't be more happy that he was going to be gone when I got back home.  As happy as he had made my mom before, he made my life a living hell.
I quickly pulled my phone out and stopped craning my neck to see what was happening.  I pretended I was texting and acted surprised when my mother appeared in the doorway.  "Are you ready?" she huffed, pushing a piece of hair out of her face.  I nodded and stood up, getting ready for the awkward car ride I was about to endure.
