"My Lady," Chat Noir purred as he flew through the air, landing on the rooftop they had decided to meet on for patrol. But as he looked around, he sensed something was off.
"My Lady?" He called out tentatively, his good mood muted now.
"Yes, Chaton?" Ladybug's voice rang out in response. Glancing around almost frantically, he failed to find her.
"Where are you?" His question was answered as Ladybug stepped out from the shadows- but she wasn't really Ladybug.
"Ladybug? Is that really you?"
"You may call me Miss Fortune," she replied, bowing as Chat typically did. Her skintight suit was white with black dots now instead of the typical ladybug colors.
"What happened?" He asked as she began walking towards him slowly, her hips swaying back and forth, so unlike the Ladybug he had known, causing him to start backing up.
"My luck ran out," she hummed, closing in on him. "And yours just got a whole lot worse." His back was now against the wall, and his hand was tightly closed around his staff.
"What makes you think that?"
"Well, I'm going to need your miraculous, silly Chaton." Her laugh chilled him to his core. "Now hand it over."
"No." Chat stated, his breathing becoming faster as she got closer. There was no way he'd be able to fight her- he couldn't bear the thought of hurting her.
"Would you give it to me," she started, close enough to place her index finger under his chin, causing him to gulp, "for a kiss?"
His heart leapt at those words, and the thought of kissing Ladybug sent him over the moon and his heart into overdrive.
But this wasn't Ladybug. He pushed her back as gently as he could, and extended his staff to pole vault him over her, giving him the space he'd need to avoid her.
"I'm insulted, Chaton," Miss Fortune teased. "Though I suppose this means I'll have to take your miraculous from you- either dead or alive." With that last sentence, her voice took a dark turn.
"My Lady, I know you're in there. Please, come back," he called out, hoping, no, praying he could get through.
"She is me now, sorry," the akumatized Ladybug replied in a sickly sweet and insincere voice. He was too focused on her face to notice she had taken out her yoyo, now equipped with blades. His eyes were too busy scanning her face, looking for any traces of his Ladybug, so zoned in on her once bluebell eyes that he wasn't aware she was trying to hurt him until her now deadly yoyo smacked into his side- and stuck. Chat's eyes widened and he looked down at it, then back at Miss Fortune. Before he could say anything, she ripped it out of his side, pulling it back to her as he let out a screech of pain and grabbed his side.
"My Lady, please, this isn't you," he pleaded, wincing at the pain.
"She's not home," Miss Fortune hissed, now seemingly irritated at him. Beginning to wind up the yoyo for another go at Chat, she started walking towards him again. He dodged the yoyo, using his staff to then hit it from her hand. She retaliated by kicking him in his injured side. When he pushed himself off the ground from where he landed, he saw her looking around for her yoyo, which was near him. Reaching out to it, he tried to grab it but was stopped by Miss Fortune stepping on his hand.
"I'll take that, thank you," she huffed, reaching down and snatching it up.
"Please," Chat begged, looking up at her.
"Ladybug isn't here anymore, Chaton," she spat. "So you may as well just fight back. Amuse me."
"I...I can't," he muttered. Miss Fortune kicked him, sending him rolling away.
"Then give me your miraculous."
"I can't do that either," Chat coughed, pushing his upper body up off the ground.
"Then fight back," she growled, irritation evident. She grabbed his tail and dragged him back to closer to the center of the building before forcing him to stand up. "Throw a punch at me Chaton." Mutely, the feline hero shook his head. Letting out a noise of frustration, she kicked him in his side, sending him flying, rolling when he hit the ground. Angrily, and possibly driven on by Papillion-who wanted to get his sick pleasure in by watching Ladybug attack her partner relentlessly while under his control- Miss Fortune stalked over to Chat and started kicking him, causing him to curl up into a ball in an attempt to take most of the blows to his forearms instead of his head or stomach.
"Fight back!" She seethed, each word emphasized with a kick. "Why won't you fight back?"
"Because you've left me nothing to fight for,"Chat replied weakly, tears brimming in his eyes as he drew in closer, bracing himself for more kicks.
To his surprise, the kicks never came. Instead, a pair of gentle hands pried him open. Cautiously, the green eyed male looked up, and was greeted with the bluebell eyes he had fallen for the first time he locked his gaze with them. But now these eyes weren't bright with happiness, they were shining with tears.
"There's always something," Ladybug murmured, leaning down to place her forehead on his.
"M-my Lady?" He nearly whimpered, raising a tentative hand to rest on her cheek. Her gloved hand covered his, keeping it pressed to her face.
"It's me, Chaton."
"But how?"
"Don't worry about that now. I'm here to stay, and that's all that matters."
"Ladybug, I-"
"Ssh, Chat," she cut him off with a finger to his lips. "Just don't let Papillion get to you too."
"I-I don't know if I'm strong enough," he admitted quietly, unable to tear his gaze from her teary one.
"You're so much stronger than me," she murmured. Leaning down towards him, she pressed her lips to his. His eyes widened, and he wondered for a minute if he had actually died. But he still felt the pain in his side from earlier, alerting him that he was very much alive, and that Ladybug was in fact kissing him. Closing his eyes, he used his hand to pull her closer, rejoicing in the simple kiss.
When they pulled away, Ladybug was openly crying.
"I'm so sorry, Chat," she whispered.
"I'll be fine my Lady." He offered a smile in an attempt to calm her. "After all, I have you, don't I?"
