Cinnamon Rolls (1)
"Hal, help please!", a woman screamed. It was Carol.
"Carol! Where are you?", I yelled. Our voices echoed in the intimidating darkness. It had an aura to it that I could not recognize. It wasn't fear, nor death.
My feet suddenly were pulled into the ground. They were quickly submerged in the evil, sticky substance. I couldn't see the same green glow that radiated from the rest of my body.
"Carol!", I said trying to pull myself out. It was no use trying, my ring was dying.
"Power: 10%", the ring told me. My ring was fully charged not too long ago, is it the goo that is draining my power?
"Hal! Help me ple-", Carol's voice was quickly cut off. No. This can't be happening.
The silence was taunting me.
"Carol!", I screamed. The goo was churning around me now. Faster, faster, faster.
"Carol, answer me please!", I screamed. Silence overwhelmed me.
The goo abruptly stopped. Everything was still besides my struggle to escape it.
Something was coming up from the goo. I couldn't recognize it. I stopped struggling getting ready for an attack.
What came up was unexpectedly...unexpected. I didn't see it. I couldn't see it.
I didn't have any energy left, I finally let the stubborn goo finally travel its way up my body.I closed my eyes.
When I opened my eyes there was a pleasant smell in the air, cinnamon. I looked to my side, she wasn't in bed. Cinnamon rolls, I thought. I immediately hopped out of bed, trying to forget about the dream. My dreams were getting worse, I haven't told the guardians about it yet. Carol says it's something with the ring, I don't believe her. She never liked the big space rock on my finger, but she's growing on it.
I practically skipped into the kitchen. Ever since I was a little boy, cinnamon rolls were my favorite.
Carol was taking the little rolls of deliciousness out of the oven. She was wearing shorts and one of my old t-shirts, and her hair was put up in a messy ponytail. Even when she wasn't try to be beautiful, she was. I went and wrapped my arms around her.
"Good morning.", I said kissing her head. She smiled.
"Good morning to you too, sweetie.", she said, turning around and kissing my cheek.
"Sleep well?", I asked eyeing the cinnamon rolls. She saw me eyeing them and laughed while picking up the hot pan.
"Yes I did, you?", she asked. She passed me with the rolls, giving me a whiff of the amazing smell. She carefully set the pan down and started to place the rolls in a basket on the small kitchen table. I shook my head, not wanting to talk about it.
"Was it the dreams again?", Carol asked, filling with concern. I nodded, frustrated with the dreams.
"You need to tell someone about these dreams, Hal.", Carol said. I shook my head again, not wanting to get into this argument again.
"I am telling someone.", I said sitting down at the table, ready to dig in the cinnamon rolls. I avoided her eyes. I was about to grab one when she pulled the basket away. I sighed. She sat down across from me. I felt her eyes on me, like daggers.
"Hal, I mean someone up there.", she said pointing up. She really was worried, I heard it in her voice. She cared about me too much. I didn't deserve her. I avoided eye contact with her.
"Look at me, Hal.", she said. I raised my head, meeting her eyes with my own. Tears were gathering in her eyes. I hated making her cry. Why am I such a dick?
"Please, Hal. Please go find out what the problem is.", I grabbed her hand and smiled.
"Fine, I'll go. You worry about me too often.", I said kissing her hand.
"My worrying has kept you alive, and have a cinnamon roll already!", she said walking out of the room.
I dug in the cinnamon rolls, and they were delicious as usual.
I was about to bite into my third one, when a bright flash filled the room. There was a large crash and I ran into the kitchen.
"Carol! Carol where are you?", I yelled. I shielded my eyes from the blinding light. I heard a scream.
"Carol!", I screamed. I ran towards the sound, but I was flung back by a force. I quickly got up and ran with more force, but it wouldn't let me get past.
"Carol! Talk to me, honey, where are you?", I yelled. No answer. I was getting worried, she wasn't answering. Was it her who was screaming?
The blinding light finally turned off. I looked around the room and saw Carol laying on the ground unconscious. There was some pink alien leaning over her with a knife.
"NO!", I screamed. My ring activated and I shot a beam at the alien. It immediately dropped the knife and fell back. I rushed to Carol to get her out of there. I was temporarily relieved, Carol wasn't hurt. When I scooped her up, the alien sat up and threw the knife into my shoulder. I yelled in pain, and almost dropped Carol. The knife was pushed to the wall by the alien's powers which brought me to the wall. My shoulder was throbbing, but I didn't care, Carol was in trouble. Why did they want her?
Carol was floating mid air where I was carrying her. The alien let her down to the ground carefully. It pulled about another knife. It lifted her shirt and said an enchantment into the knife.
"NO! YOU BASTARD!", I screamed from the wall. The alien ignored me, It probably didn't even understand what I was yelling.
The alien slowly dragged the knife from her middle of her ribs to her belly button in a straight line. The cut was deep and precise. Tears were running down my face.
Blood was pouring from the cut. It was all over the place. I was frozen to the wall, I couldn't do anything to help her. The alien quickly pulled out a pink gem and put it in the cut.
Immediately after that all the blood was gone and Carol was clothed in some armor. Why does that look so familiar? The alien touched Carol's head and they both disappeared.
I was free from the wall, I dropped to my knees and wept.
I am going to get revenge, I told myself.
I am going to get revenge.
I am going to get revenge.
