13 • Calm

  Charlie's POV:

  "Alright, Charlie," Dr. Montgomery says as she walks towards me.

  "Yes?" I ask.

  "The girls are fine," she says with a smile.

  I sigh as I stressfully and thankfully run my hands through my hair. I groan as I look down at the floor.

  "You can take them home if you want. I would like them to take it easy for a while, though," she says.

  "Okay," I say as I stand up.

  She the leads me into the room with Meghan and Jojo in it. They quickly look up as we walk into the room.

  "You can go home, now," Dr. Montgomery says with a smile.

  "Charlie," Meghan says as she jumps off of the table and runs into my arms.

  She latches her arms tightly around my neck. I hug her back as she buries her head into my neck. I open my eyes slightly to see Dr. Montgomery smiling at us warmly, and Jojo attempts to smile.

  "I told you, Charlie," the doctor says.

  I smile wide as I hug Meghan tighter.

  "Told you what?" Meghan asks as she pulls back a little to see my face.

  "Don't worry about it," I say.

  She smiles, and I shake my head lightly. We break apart and start to head towards my car. Meghan grabs my hand as we walk towards the door to the waiting room. I'm not even sure if it was out of love or out of fear.

We walk out of the hospital and begin to drive back to Meg's house. When we get there, it's pure chaos. Meghan steps out of the car, and people swarm her. I see her face through the crowd, and she looks like she's about to either cry or pass out. I push through everyone and grab her hand. She clutches tightly to it, and we run up her front yard along with Jojo behind us. We run into the house before anyone can reach us.

"That was kind of scary," Meg says as she hugs me.

"We're fine now," I say as I run my hand up and down her back.

"Thank you, Charlie," she says randomly.

"No problem," I say as I hug her tighter.

"Meg," Jojo says.

"Yeah?" she says as she turns around, but she keeps her arms attached around my neck.

"You have 17 missed calls, and we're all over the news," she says.

Meg sighs and looks at me. I look at her and give her a sympathetic smile. Her eyes become a bit glassy.

"Oh, Meg," I say as I hug her, again.

She sobs into my shoulder as Jojo turns the TV on in the living room. I immediately here a lady talking about Meghan and Jojo. Meg and I walk in, and I wrap my arms around her from behind and rest my head on her shoulder.

"Meghan Trainor and her best friend, Jordan Federman, were just sexually harassed this morning. Meghan was apparently returning from a friends house, and she found the man in her room. They were just seen with her fellow friend, Charlie Puth, about an hour ago," she says.

A video of the crowd surrounding Meg came on. That's when I pulled her out, and we ran towards her house.

"We have no further information on this story, but when we do, we'll tell you," she says.

I suddenly feel a sob spill from Meghan's mouth. I turn her around and find her crying out of control. I hug her once again, and she bury her head into my chest.

  "Shh, it's okay," I say as I try to comfort her.

  "What now?" she asks.

  "I'm not sure."

   Meghan's POV:

  I'm scared. I'm scared that I'm going to walk into my room and see Brooks, again. I'm scared that people are going to pressure me and make me tell them what happened. I'm so afraid of the things that are going to happen to me, now. People will treat me differently. Charlie will treat me differently.

  "Meg, it's okay," Charlie says as I lay my head on his chest. I snuggled into him as we laid on the couch in the living room.

  "I don't know what I'm going to do," I whisper quietly.

  "Just calm down. We can think of everything else later, okay?" he asks.

  "Okay."
