The Way I Love You

Chapter Six - Breaking-Out

I took in a deep breath, sliding my hands over my thighs, straightening my skirt out that was a little creased from the game.

I stopped for a second and looked at my knees.

"When I was five, my dad went to station in Afghanistan," I started, "Of course, I don't remember when he went since I was only five, but my mom told me when I was old enough. He's been out there fighting for so, so long, and he doesn't like to return to us because he's scared that he won't want to leave, and probably won't if he came back because he'd feel guilty, so instead of coming back he keeps fighting, for us,"

I gulped as a smile slowly crept onto my face and I began fiddling with my fingers.

"He writes every month to us, every ninth because that's my lucky number, and each time he tells us what's happening out there. I'm the one who writes back, because mom never knows what to write and she just breaks down. He sometimes sends pictures of him and his best friend Craig," I chuckled, "Silly, random pictures, and we do the same back, in fact every New Year's we send him a picture of me and mom to show him how much we've matured and strengthened since the start of the year, and he always tells me I've grown to be as beautiful as my mom,"

I squeezed my eyes shut for a second, then re-opened them, letting the tears fall.

My throat became dry, as I wiped the rest of my tears with the sleeve of my cheerleading outift.

I chuckled, "But it's okay, because I know that he's fighting out there for me, for my mom, for us."

"I try to be strong, but sometimes it just gets hard knowing one day the letters and the stupid pictures might just suddenly stop. I just want him to come home." I balled, wiping the tears from my face with a sniffle.

It became silent, only my sniffles were to be heard.

"You're a strong girl, Alyx, you know that?" Justin's soft voice whispered, nothing but care in his voice.

I looked up at him, letting a full toothed smile creep onto my face, "I'm not really, I-"

"But, look at you, Ally!" He whispered with more force, "You're so, so strong. You've basically never seen your dad, you still have faith in him, and you know he's going to return. I would never have thought that you'd be going through what you go through, you're so strong, Alyx, really."

I looked at him and smiled, pulling him in for a hug, inhaling his scent.

"Thank you." I whispered into his neck, feeling him shiver underneath me.

He chuckled, pulling away, "No problem."

I hopped out of the shower, feeling the cold bathroom tiles under my feet.

Wrapping a towel around my body, as well as around my hair for it to dry faster, I skipped to my closet, opening it and placed a finger to my chin, contemplating weither I could get away with wearing a Summer time crop top in such weather as Canada.

It was finally the weekend, and Shay, Justin, Ryan, Chaz and I were going to the mall, well, Shay and I were, and the guys were most probably going to run off to the arcade or the food court.

Guys.

I decided to take a chance and picked out a turquoise strappy crop top, black skinny jeans and a baige coloured over-sized cardigan, throwing them onto the bed as I slipped on my under garments.
