The Way I Love You

Chapter Three - Reputation

Alyx's POV.

I let out a gentle yawn and covered my mouth with my hand, blocking out the noise that came out. My chin rested lazily in the palm of my hand, with my elbow perched on the desk in front of me.

I was impatiently waiting for the final bell to ring, so I can finally get home. But then I realized something..

I had tutoring with Justin tonight.

I mentally groaned, but I was thankful of him to take time out of ice-hockey to help me with my French.

I watched as the last few seconds ticked by, before the last bell started to ring and I smiled, jumping up and collecting my Math exercise book and textbook, and darted for the door, trying my hardest not to push anyone.

I ran to my locker, prying it open, stuffed my Math books inside, and grabbed my French textbook and my copy book. With a quick slam, my bag was on my shoulder, my books were wrapped in my arms, and my feet carried me towards the school's front gates to meet Justin.

I was now dressed in my new cheerleading outfit, since we were practicing for our cheer off in a few weeks

I honestly loved the outfits--it was a blue skirt that came a few inches above the knee with a white and yellow rim just a few centimeters from the bottom, a blue shirt with long sleeves (probably because it was cold here), that had 'Stratford Northwestern' printed in white at the front, with a yellow rim. My hair was tied up in a high ponytail, and my new white low-top Converse--that mom's boss had given to me--accompanied my feet.

It was seriously too weird, how when I got here that I had a whole new closet waiting for me and a beautiful room.

It didn't make sense.

It wasn't any of my business, anyway.

As I proceeded to the gates, I saw Justin leaning against it with his arms crossed over his chest, and his bag hung loosely on his shoulders.

"Hey." I said.

"Oh, hey! You ready?" He asked, uncrossing his arms.

"Sure!" I chirped, a grin now spread across my face.

We began leaving the entrance of the gate, a comfortable silence between us, but what made me really uncomfortable was the fact that the further we walked, the more people started to stare at us.

I cleared my throat and whispered, "Why is everyone staring at us?"

He looked at me with a frown, then looked around him, then his eyes met mine again.

"I-I don't know." He replied, and at that moment, a few wolf-whistles were to be heard behind us.

"Why are they doing that?" I whispered once more, placing a loose piece of hair behind my ear.

He turned his head around and looked back, scanning what was behind him.

"They're laughing at me." He said simply.

I frowned, but replied, "But why-"

"Because a cheerleader doesn't hang around with a guy like me!" I said, raising his voice slightly.

I frowned once more and tightened the grip on the strap of my bag. "I don't understand, what about Shay?"

He sighed, "When I first started dating her, everyone laughed. They'd all be like 'He can finally get a girl!'," he gestured. "And didn't stop, until a few months ago. I'm not exactly sure why it stopped, but I'm glad it did."
