A/N - This book was written by myself (Alkimara) and a good friend, GalacticCo. We took turns writing each chapter in a POV. I wrote Melissa's POVs, and she wrote Ridaz's POV. This is our first combined book, so if you have any constructive criticism, please comment it.

WARNING: THE FOLLOWING BOOK CONTAINS TOPICS FOR VIEWERS ABOVE THE AGE OF 15 AT LEAST. The topics of sexual abuse and swearing will be included. Viewer discretion is advised for you little kids. If you’re 12 and reading this, then what the fuck are you doing here? Get out.

Melissa’s POV

Melissa. That’s my name. Or at least, that’s the only name I’ve ever known. It was the name my mother gave me before she died. It was the name my brother, Eric, continued to call me after our father had given us away. And it was the only name I had remembered after falling off of that boat.

About 18 years ago, I was born. About 21 years ago, my brother was born. If you can’t do the math, that makes him three years older than me. Our mother raised us as well as she could, teaching us right from wrong and all that typical childhood stuff. When I was 10 (and my brother was 13) our mother died from an illness. Our father after that fell into a crisis in his life, I suppose, where he decided to sell myself and Eric off to slavery. Who did he sell us to? Pirates. Me, being young, acquired an accent with the pirates. Eric’s accent isn’t as noticeable. At around the age of 13, I started to be used for other methods besides cleaning the ship. Eric tried to protect me, but because of his violent acts he was separated from me. Eventually, though, when I was 15 the ship sunk.

Eric and I escaped, and eventually found a nice town. He tried to get a job and raise me on his own, but when I could I’d steal food or money to help out. I never told him how I got the money, I just had it. While we both hated the fact that we were used as slaves, I wanted to go have a real adventure, and I could tell he did too. After a year of being on land, we both got jobs on another ship. That’s where we met Arrow. He’s 19 now, and doesn’t have the blue that Eric and I have. He has short red hair and hazel eyes, unlike my bright blue hair and heterochromatic blue eyes and Eric’s dark blue hair and silver eyes. But the three of us became even closer on that ship. The ship we sail now.

Recently we had gotten a tip about some special jewel or something being off somewhere far away. The captain didn’t tell me much, even though I was his first mate. I sighed and jumped down from the crow’s nest, landing in a crouch and then standing straight. I walked over to the edge of the boat and looked out at the sea.

“When do you think we’ll get there?” I turned towards Arrow, leaning against the end of the boat.

“I don’ know. We’ll just ‘ave to wait and see. Wherever ‘there’ is,” I answered. I watched Eric climb up the crow’s nest, as it was his turn to keep watch.

“You mean the captain didn’t tell you either?”

“Aye.”

“Not even his first mate knows what the hell’s going on,” Arrow muttered, leaning on the railing next to me. “What if we’re just all going to our doom or something?”

“We aren’.”

“How do you know that?”

“I don’.”

“Melissa!” I laughed a bit and looked up to see Eric waving his arms. I walked closer to the crow’s nest.

“THERE’S A STORM AHEAD!” I looked over to see that in the distance the sky turned grey. I ran around to the Captain’s Quarters and opened the door.

“What the hell-?” He started, obviously annoyed I didn’t knock.

“Capt’n, there’s a storm comin’ in straight ahead,” I said. The Captain stood up and walked out, looking over to the storm that we were nearing. He began to yell commands, and we all prepared to head into the storm.

I grabbed a rope and tied it around my ankle, then ran to secure all the lines as other crew members tied themselves to the ship. I began to help the other members lower the sails, and then we entered the storm. The boat rocked back and forth, back and forth, and I felt like we were going to tip over. I looked back where we came from, and couldn’t see the clear skies anymore.

“KEEP US ON COURSE!” The captain yelled.

I looked up at Joe at the wheel and he seemed to be having trouble. I ran up there after slipping a few times and grabbed the wheel just as he fell over. “No… ye don’....!” Joe got up and helped me turn the wheel back, and we both looked up to see a giant wave of water coming towards the right of the ship. “HOLD ON TO YER ROPES!” I shouted, and I heard Eric and Arrow echo my yells so the rest of the crew could hear. I went to grab the rope around my ankle, and saw that it wasn’t there. Looking up, I saw the rope was next to the wheel. I dived for it and grabbed on just as the wave of water hit the ship.

I shut my eyes and suddenly everything was calm. There was no noise, and I was just spinning in what felt like a void. I opened my eyes a bit and saw the boat was spinning in an upside-down motion. Every crew member was holding on. It looked sort of pretty in a weird way. Like the end of the world was occurring, but… Well, the only way I can explain it is that mother nature has a weird way of displaying death and destruction.

The boat finished it’s rotation and everyone was either back on deck or holding onto their rope and climbing up the side. I had floated all the way to one of the masts, and as the boat righted itself I fell onto the deck hard, letting go of the rope. I tried to catch my breath and stood up, then grabbed onto my rope again. I tied it around my arm, and went to the wheel once again. As I climbed the stairs a smaller wave of water hit the boat, tilting it to the side. I shouted as I felt my feet leave the wood and I went flying into the water.

I swam up and grabbed onto the rope around my arm, pulling. It pulled me closer to the boat, and then suddenly slacked. I pulled harder, and the other end of the rope fell out of the boat. Ye ‘ave got to be jokin’, I thought, looking back up at the boat in fear. My eyes connected with Eric’s for a moment before another wave of water hit me, along with something hard, and everything went dark.
