Melissa's POV

I woke up to the feeling of someone pulling me through the water. I would've moved, but I was in a world of pain. I shut my eyes a little tighter and felt my back rub against sand, the figure moving to the side. Who the 'ell...? Feeling more stable, I let out a sort of groan and sat up slowly, holding my head. I heard a splash of water and slowly opened my eyes. I looked around in confusion, seeing no one was there. "What...?" I mumbled. I sighed and stood up. Brushing the sand off my shirt, I glanced around. Where was I...? And who was I?! "Melissa Icefall." The name rolled off my tongue, familiarizing itself with me. I guess... My name was Melissa. I sighed and rubbed the back of my head, looking back out at the ocean. Something must've carried me to the land, but... What was I doing at sea?

Shaking my head, I began to walk until I reached a town. I asked around and eventually found out what the town was named. I couldn't remember it, though, as the name was so weird. Aely, or something like that. People took pity on the girl who washed up on the shore, too, and gave me some bread. I thanked them and spent most of the day wandering the city.

At one point, I learned where I could find a doctor. I followed the directions a man had given me, and walked up the steps. I knocked before heading a "come in!" from inside.

I opened the door, and was greeted with an old woman tending to her patient. Another woman, who was younger, walked up to me and smiled. "Hi, what seems to be the problem?"

"'Ello," I started nervously, "I washed up on the shore a few 'ours ago, and the only thing I can remember is me name."

"Judging by the accent, I'd say you've spent a long time on the seas," She remarked, motioning for me to follow her.

"Aye... I think," I mumbled. I followed and we reached another bed. She motioned for me to sit down, and I did so.

"So, you don't remember anything at all?"

"My name is Melissa."

"Hmm..." She thought for a moment, then put on some gloves and put her hands near my head. "May I?" I nodded, and she began to feel my head. It was calming in a weird way, and after a few minutes she backed off. "I found a bump on your head which probably means you hit it pretty hard - it's just amnesia. You should remember within a few days." She smiled a bit at me and I smiled back. Then, someone else walked in and she walked off.

I noticed there were only two beds, so I got up and thanked the assistant before walking out. That old man probably needed the doctor more than I did, anyway.

I eventually reached a dock, and sat down at the edge. My feet hung over the side as I ate some bread I got earlier today. I'd have to figure out how to make some money - the "girl who washed up on shore" story wouldn't last forever.

I finished my bread and just stared off at the sunset before noticing something in the water. I turned my attention towards it and stared for a moment before it moved. I blinked and took my legs out of the water, but still sat on the edge of the dock.

"'Ello...?"
