K A L I N A

As me and Nyla pulled onto our moms street, I began to get nervous, and I honestly don't know why. Probably because I haven't talked to my mom in a few weeks, after me, her, and my oldest brother Karter got into a big argument. Hopefully she doesn't bring it up, let's me pick my brothers up and let's me leave.

As we parked on the curb Nyla began to speak.

"Hey, I'm gonna run over and see my mom while you handle business, okay?" She said, smiling.

"Well you might want to go in with me, she's over here. Kam texted me and told me to tell you." I informed her.

She just nodded and we got out of the car. I made sure to hit the lock button on my key multiple times. I grew up in this neighborhood so I knew what the people were capable of here.

As we stood on my moms doorstep, I didn't even get a chance to knock on the door before it swung open, revealing my twin baby brothers.

"SISSSSSS!!!" They both exclaimed in unison.

One by one they dapped me up, then headed over to do the same with Nyla. We all turned our attention as we heard footsteps, it was our mothers.

"Heyyyyy ma, I've missed you!" Nyla exclaimed as she ran over to her mother.

I slowly approached my mom, not exactly sure of how to greet her.

"Hello Kalina, how are you dear? It's been a while since we've spoken to each other." She said snidely.

"Hey mom. I'm doing great, and yes I'm aware of that. You know the reason." I answered back, trying my hardest not to have an attitude.

"Well I honestly didn't think you would still be holding onto something so miniscule, but you have always been one to hold grudges. You really need to work on that, you can't live your life like that Alexa." She said, rolling her eyes.

"Don't call me by my middle name, you know I hate that. And I'm not holding a grudge about something miniscule, as you would say. But I didn't come here to argue with you, I came here to pick up my brothers so they can actually have a bit of fun this summer." I said, turning around to walk away from her. I'm fuming but I just want to get my brothers and leave before I say something that I regret, or cause them to not be able to come with me.

"Hey Ma" I said, walking up to Nyla's mother and hugging her.

"How have you been baby?" She asked, rubbing my arm.

"Really good actually, when we bring the boys back I'll have to take you out to lunch or something so I can catch you up on everything." I say, giving her another big hug since we are fixing to leave.

"Sounds good, just let me know and I'll be ready!" She giggled and I nodded, turning away to find my brothers.

"Boys are y'all ready? We need to get going, we have plans this afternoon!" I yelled, then suddenly hearing them come charging down the stairs, bags in hand.

"Yeah, we ready. Lets ride!" Exclaimed Kam.

As we waved by to our moms, and, climbed into my car, the boys immediately began asking questions.

"So Kali, who is this friend we're staying with?" Asked Kristopher.

"Not telling, you'll see when you get there!" I said back to him.

"Don't you think it's a lil dangerous just dragging us to stay at some strangers house?" Kamden asked.

"He's not a stranger. Just shut up and enjoy the ride. I promise you'll be more than excited when we get there." I said.
