Rules of this exercise: Describe the color 'red' without coming out and saying that it's red. I saw it on a writing social media account multiple times and thought it would make a good exercise. So, without further ado, here we go!
He felt something strange in the pocket of his Levi jeans that night. Carefully, he reached into his pocket and pulled out a tube of her lipstick. His grip tightened as he admired the color. It was the color of the emotional pain she left him in on that day. It was the color of her heart-breaker smirk. It was the color he felt when he realized that he would never love again. His breath quivered as tears rained from his hazel eyes. However, the lipstick was also the color of hope. It was the color of the need to move on. It was the color of learning to love again. There was hope somewhere. There will always be hope somewhere. The thought made him smile. He was just another heartbreak away from a happily ever after. The tube of her lipstick was thrown from his hand into the metal trashcan. It's where the tube belonged. He was moving on.
