“Honey what’s wrong?? Did you have another nightmare?” I asked worriedly, being quiet not to wake our parents up, even though they probably woke up from his screaming. Jamie was standing up already and reaching his hands out towards me. I picked him up and gently touched his head.

“Mommy…” Jamie whimpered.

“Honey whats wrong?” I whispered in his ear as he laid his head down while I walked towards my room across the hall

“Someone’s in houses” He whispered back to me. I looked around me, feeling Goosebumps thinking about it. –how can someone be in our house? My parents have guards watching us 27/7. They’re scared something will happen to us for some odd reason I don’t even know.-

Now that I think about it, I really don’t know anything about them or their jobs. They seem to keep that secret to us. I looked down and was about to ask Jamie about what he said but he was already asleep.

Once in my room I laid Jamie down and was about to lay down when I saw something move outside my window. I blinked my eyes and looked again and didn’t notice anything. –I must be seeing things- I thought as I laid down and moved Jamie closer to me and put a pillow behind him. After a while of not being able to sleep as Jamie snuggled against me; I went back to memories of Aden, even though they caused only pain.

Around eight AM Jamie was jumping on my bed and screaming “MOMMY! WAKE UP MOMMY!” Over and over again, I already knew he was hungry. This has been are rutean for the past week. Jamie waking up in the middle of the night, than I bring him to my bed which lead to me not getting any sleep and then he wakes me up early.

“Okay! Fine already” I told him while flopping out of bed and rubbing my eyes. I picked up Jamie and headed for the kitchen.

My bedroom was in a hall with 4 different bedrooms and 1 bathroom. It was a long hall which leads to a staircase that brings you downstairs. On the way down the stairs I started to hear foot steps somewhere near me. Jamie looked right at me, hearing them too.

“Something’s up der mommy” I didn’t know if it was a question or he really thought something was up there. So I hurried down the stairs, trying not to think about it. When I walked into the main hall across the stairs I went past the front door left of me. I walked right back into a hallway that lead to the living room, kitchen and library where my parents liked to sit in and read stuff or do there work.

I turned right and walked right into the kitchen, I could smell cinnamon from the creamy cinnamon rolls that laid on the stove. Jamie started to squirm in my arms.

“Hey Alex, Hi Jamie” Nellie said with a smile. Nellie was the daughter of one of the cooks we’ve had since I was born that worked in the mornings, though lately Nellie has been taking care of her shifts.

“Want one!!” Jamie said and squirmed in my arms. Nellie and I both laughed.

“Settle down little pig.” Jamie looked at me and gave me a pout. His blond hair hung low in his eyes and curled at the back of his neck. His eyes we’re the color of blue ice. I laughed and sat him on the barstool that stood behind the counter.  I sat down next to him as Nellie handed him a cinnamon roll. Jamie started bouncing on his stool as he started to dig in.

“Yumm..” Jamie said threw a mouth full of food. I smiled and looked at him again. He looked nothing like me. I’ve tried to find similarities between my family and I, but I couldn’t. I was the total opposite of them. They were full of golden colors while I had a dark complexion. My hair being black and my eyes are between a greenish blue. –Are these your parents- Aden’s voice ran in my head; I jumped, looking around for him. That’s when I saw Nellies worried eyes on me.

“Alex, are you okay?? You look like you saw a ghost.” She asked as she walked towards me. I watched her, my eyes tracing how she walked. It reminded me of something…  When she was closer, I looked up at her. Something was different. Something I’ve seen only in my dreams at night. Her Eyes… Golden eyes… She resembled Aden.

I couldn’t take it anymore; I jumped off the stool and ran towards my room. I was halfway up the steps when my stomach gave a knot of pain. I fell on the second step to the top and laid my head on the carpet floor. I sat there with tears running the length of my face. Knowing I didn’t make it and someone would report this scene to my parents. There was always someone watching and reporting. My parents won’t be happy about this.

Something made tapping sounds behind me, someone was coming up. Then I heard another set of footsteps next to me.
