You and me baby making love like Gorillas.
Chapter 32: Legacy
It was as if nothing had ever happened. Like if nothing, nothing that had been before happened, or mattered. After Citra died, everything changed. Life moved on, the show continued. The jungle became brighter, the sun rose higher, the days were hotter and the island became better. Everything became easier.
Myra and Vaas returned to their shanty. Bella evaded more and more into the jungle. The only thing new was the little lump on Myra's stomach that both she and Vaas knew about, but never talked about. She could hide it for a month with a tank top. After two months it was Vaas's loose t-shirts that she wore, and after three months it was two or three t-shirts. Eventually, the lump was too big to ignore.
"So," Myra began, sitting up from the cot she was sitting on with a sigh. She looked at Vaas with her jet blue orbs and shrugged. "Are we gunna continue to ignore the obvious or what?" It was clear what she wanted to talk about, the pirate lord knew it. It was obvious she needed reassurance.
Vaas got up from the chair he was sitting on and smiled at the girl. "Ok, hermana, say what you gotta say."
"Alright," she began, putting her hands on her lower back and leaning back. Vaas quirked a brow and smirked. He had no idea how cute she would look pregnant. "I need to know if the baby's goin' to survive, where I'm going to give birth, where it's going to sleep, how we're going to feed it and bring it up. Oh God, there's so many things to plan!" with an aggravated grunt, the brunette put two hands to her forehead and sat back down on the cot. "Fuck! I should of listened in Sex Ed at school," she mumbled.
"There there, mami," the pirate lord chuckled. "Look, those old native grandmothers are going to help you. I talked to them, 'cause technically, I rule them now, but whatever. I'll ask Timo to build us a crib and we'll put it in the back room. Our shipement of food will increase, but that's no problem." He sat down beside the girl and wrapped his arm around her shoulder.
"You went to talk to the old native grandmothers about the baby?" Myra asked, surprised. Her eyes were wide and she looked at Vaas like he was dumb. He shrugged.
"Yeah," he waved it off.
"What they say?" the girl pushed on. "I don't no fucking voodoo native magic 'kay?" a laugh escaped her throat and she lumped against Vaas' body.
"They knew before we did," he answered, tightening his grip around her shoulders. "They're glad to help."
"It must of been funny to see you ask those native grannies about your baby," Myra chuckled, looking up at a smiling Vaas.
Three other months passed and it was all discovery. Myra learned that a heavy belly means an acheing back and she had to ring up Hoyt to get the double bed she slept in once shipped to Vaas' shanty. Let's just say Hoyt got too weird about the whole baby thing and asked Myra to name it after him if it was a boy. He visited once and called Myra fat. Well, he said it was the only compliment he could come up with.
Bella came around twice in those three months. She was huge and strong and beautiful. Myra had been walking down the incline to the camp square when she saw the familiar pair of greenish/blue eyes staring at her through the jungle under brush. The tigress was standing there in all it's glory and Myra had to supress tears. All those little memories of Bella when she was just a baby, running around and sleeping with Vaas. How the two irritated each other, but were still always together. Bella was part of the family. She had approached the brunette and looked down at the belly. It was like the tiger was acknowledging the formation of something beautiful for it inclined it's head and shuddered. It then bounced back into the jungle and dissapeared. Her second appearance was pure coincendental. Myra happened to be bathing at the pond and Bella ran by her, eyes scanning the human in the pond and then darting back into the green. Bella was never seen again.
