Chapter Twenty-One ~ Serefina
I stormed off after calling the Prince a thief. Which was a true statement – as much as I wished it wasn't. Legally, he did steal me. He took me from Kobe's property without any kind of arrangement being made. Though I didn't know how many of the laws actually applied to the Royal Family, if any. The point is that if he were anyone else he would have had to pay or face consequences for taking me. Not that the legal system was anything that could be considered "just" seeing as how it saw me as being in the ownership of someone else.
I didn't see Amador at all for the rest of the day. When I saw him the following day it was after Daisy called me into the library.
"The Prince wants to see you, he said that Kobe is here to see you," she said.
I nodded and followed her to the library.
"Wait," I said right before entering the room. I suddenly remembered that I left Kobe's ring in the room I was staying in. So I ran back to retrieve it, with Daisy calling after me. I snatched it off the countertop it was on and I slid it on my ring finger as I ran back to the library.
"Sorry," I mumbled as I reached Daisy and she opened the door for me to enter.
I had hardly stepped into the room when Kobe rushed up to greet me. He snaked an arm around my waist and supported my neck with his other hand as he took me into a punishing kiss, it was desperate and urgent and I couldn't help but think that it was mostly for Amador's benefit seeing as how he stood only six feet away. I wrapped my arms around Kobe's neck because I knew that's what he would have wanted me to do. The kiss lasted much longer than I was comfortable with especially with another person in the room. But then again, any kiss with Kobe lasted much longer than I would have liked.
"I'm sorry it took me so long to get back to you baby," he said when he finally did pull away.
I didn't say anything and I put my hands on his chest to try and create some space between us. Kobe took my left hand in his and kissed his ring before taking each one of my fingers to his lips. I took this as an opportunity to look over at Amador. His eyes were cemented to my fingertips which were against Kobe's lips. The look in Amador's eyes made me shudder and I felt genuinely afraid for Kobe's well-being. So I pulled my hand away as smoothly as possible.
"Have you been doing alright? Have they been treating you well?" Kobe said still holding me close.
I nodded my head.
"I've missed you," he said.
I heard Amador scoff, which I tried to ignore.
"Have you missed me?" he asked looking into my eyes.
I took a deep breath and glanced over to Amador before looking back at Kobe. Kobe gave Amador a look.
"Would you mind giving us some privacy?" Kobe said.
Amador crossed his arms and gave him a what-do-you-think look.
"She's my fiancé, surely you can understand why I'd like a few moments alone with her," Kobe said with a dark grin.
"The only reason you're here is because Serefina asked to see you and the only reason I haven't broken your nose is because she is in the room." Amador said in an eerie calm that made me frightened of him. Kobe turned his attention back to me.
"Did you really ask to see me?" he said a wicked smile stretching across his face.
I nodded.
"I knew you cared about me,"
