Ashlyn's pov

I slowly came back to my senses. I backed out of his embrace, and immediately felt cold. My eyes looked everywhere, but at him and I saw that everyone as staring at us. My cheeks started to heat up, and I tried to run to my car. Hing on the word 'try'.

Quickly he grabbed my arm and pulled me to him again. When I didn't look up at him, he grabbed my chin and forced me to look at him. His eyes were full of concern.

"What's wrong?" He asked his voice husky and low. He touched my cheek and wiped a tear away. That's when I noticed I had started to cry.

"I-I. I can't do this. I'm not ready for this yet. I'm sorry." My voice came out in a low rushed whisper. I left him there speechless and climbed into my truck.

When I was sure I was far away, I pulled over to the side of the road and cried. I knew that I wasn't ready. That I wasn't over Aden, even though I had known him for only a day. My wolf agreed with me, but disliked how we left our new mate all alone.

She kept replaying the look on his face as we drove away. It was a mixture of pain, hurt, and confusion. We knew that he had rejected his mate about a week before us, so he had had time to get over her. We needed time to get over ours. Especially since ours was a vampire and not a wolf.

I stayed on the side of the road till I was sure that I wasn't going to break down anytime soon and headed home.

( weird name I know, but just deal with it)

I watched my second chance mate leave in her truck crying. Me and my wolf kept replaying her words over and over again. It was as if it was a broken record and wouldn't stop.

"I-I... I can't do this. I'm not ready for this yet. I'm sorry."

Then she ran off. We wanted to kill whoever her first mate was. How dare he hurt her. She our angel and we knew that she didn't deserve that guy. Heck she didn't deserve us.

When she bumped into us we felt the sparks. Somehow they were much more intense than our first mates was. My wolf was sad that we rejected her, but when he kissed our new mate he didn't really care about his true ones.

Not every rejected mate can have a second chance mate, so we were lucky. Though no one really knew who my new mate would be when I found her. Mates don't really tell someone when they reject their true mate. My was only widely known because I was a soon-to-be alpha. Some rejected mates even died. Every rejected mate was put on a death watch to make sure that they didn't kill themselves. I was put under the same thing, and I even asked my wolf if he wanted to kill himself. He had told me no, that he was waiting for someone even better than our true mate. It had made me wonder at the time who the someone better was, but now I knew.

After her truck was out of sight I got into my Porsche, and headed to the pack house. I got out of my car and sniffed the air for her scent. Though, much to my disappointment her scent was no where there. Which kent that she didn't live at the pack house.

I went straight to my father's office and walked right in without knocking. He looked up and soon got a concerned look on his face. It soon disappeared though when a huge smile over took my face.

"Did you find her?" He asked with a hopeful look in his eyes.

"Yup," I said popping the 'p' at the end.

"So, when can I meet her?"

My smile soon turned into a frown at his question.

"I don't really know." At his confused look I continued to explain. "Its just that I don't know her name, and she told me that she wasn't ready. So that must mean that her rejection was just recently."

He came over to me and patted my back.

"Well, tell me what she looks like and maybe I can tell you her name."

I started to explain what she looked like and he stopped me halfway through my explanation. He had a grave look on his face, which made me and my wolf start to worry. I could feel him pacing in the back of my mind.

"What? What is it Dad?" I asked frantically.

"The girl is an Omega, son. Her and her father came to the pack asking permission to live on our land. After talking to the Alpha of their old pack I decided to let them stay, but only if they behaved. One mistake and I would kick them out." He pause looking at me, and I nodded my head for him to continue. He took a deep breathe and reluctantly continued. "Her father used to be the Alpha of the pack, but when his wife and his other children were killed he locked himself in his office. I was told that he tried to kill his daughter twice. When he finally came out, he packed up all their stuff and left with the girl. They came her and I've been keeping tabs on the father." He takes another deep breathe and continues. "He's an alcoholic. Sometimes screaming can be heard coming from his house. We don't know what happens during that time, and when the daughter is asked she tells us nothing. Though more than once she has been seen with bruises."

I take a deep breathe to try and control my anger. It's about a minute before I can continue on.

"Do you know who her mate was?"

He gives a confused expression and says," No one in the pack has claimed her as their mate. Whoever her mate was, he wasn't from this pack."

I thank my father and head to my room. I lay on my bed and fall asleep wondering who the ass was who rejected my beautiful mate.
