Sign Names

So for this chapter I will be explaining sign names.

In sign language, a sign name (or a name sign) is a special sign that is used to uniquely identify a person, just like a regular name. In the ASL community, there are some special cultural rules around sign names; for example, they must be agreed upon by you and people in the ASL community.

Many sign names are a combination of the first letter in their name, along with a sign that describes their personality (ex: bubbly). Combo names are the most commonly used type of sign names.
