The Fox of Konoha

Why him.......

I don't own anything but the story.

It is my first day of employment at the Hokage's side. 

I sighed because of how boring it was, and curled up into a ball in front of the Hokage's desk. 

I was still my fox form because I was more comfortable in this form, downside to it everyone just thinks of me as the Hokage's pet fox. 

I was still bothered by the betrayal of my old team. But aside from that I have had a gnawing feeling in my gut that told me something is very , very wrong. 

I sighed and layed my head down before I heard a knock at the door. 

"Come in" The Hokage spoke. 

Three ANBU came in and had a guilty look on their face. 

"Report" The Hokage demanded in a strict tone. 

They looked at each other and nodded. One with a bear mask stepped forward.

"Hokage-sama, The mission was a complete success but at the loss of our ANBU captain dragon. He died trying to save us from getting killed by the people who wanted our information. I you would grant me the honor of telling his family and friends of his death." Bear said. 

I layed their shocked. My head was lifted beforehand and was looking straight at the man with widened eyes.

 'Dragon was Tessai's ANBU name' I thought as my thoughts went blank after that. I could hear faint yelling in my mind but I payed no attention. 

My head fell from its position and I laid lifeless on the floor, whimpering like I was just cut down the middle. 

I felt My head being lifted into something soft and I also felt someone or something brushing my muzzle. 

But with all this I kept whimpering and crying, because I know I will never have that piece of my soul back ever again. 

Losing someone precious to you is like losing a limb.  

It's gone and you know you can't get it back ever again. 

That little piece of yourself is lost forever. 

My thoughts were broken by words I remember. 

"Never give into grief because you know that they will always be with you. In here, your heart hold all that was precious. Gone or not it does not matter, it's always there." 

I regained some of my consciousness when I felt my my muzzle being held lovingly and I also could here my name being called. 

"TOBARI!" I looked up to see Ino Yamanaka and her father Inoichi. 

I looked around the room confused. I could see many people flooded into the Hokage's office.

I could see Kiba and his mother Tsume, Ino and inoichi and lastly the one that had my head in his lap while he was petting my muzzle, The Hokage himself. 

I decided to transform into my semi-human form. 

I heard lots of gasps but ignored it. 

I sat up slowly. 

"What happened and why is everyone in here?" I asked.

"T-Tobari?" Kiba asked me. He had his eyes widened in shock. I sighed.

"Yes, now can someone please explain" I said a little annoyed. The Hokage sighed and sat back at his desk. 

"Well Tobari after you heard the.......news....you collapsed and started to cry. You were put in a state of shock. Kiba's team came back from his mission and saw you on the floor so he called his mother from the animal clinic. They could not find any physical problems so they decided to call the yamanaka's for a mental check up, they came and Inoichi used a Jutsu to hear your thoughts but only heard bits and pieces that was not helping. So he let his daughter Ino to look through your memories and also pulled us inside to look as well....Tobari I want to say something, I'm sorry for your heartbreak and loss. At your age you should not be dealing with this pain, and what they did was not right and if you're ok with it I will find you a new team."  The hokage finished with a look of sympathy.

I then remembered what happened to Tessai and started to cry.  

I was then enveloped by lots of body warmth. I looked up to see everyone but the Hokage hugging me. Then Ino spoke. 

"I'm sure i'm speaking for everyone in this room when I say that we are here for you Tobari. And it does not matter what you are it only matters who you are" They dispersed to hug.

I whipped a tear from my eyes and mumbled a thank you.

The Hokage told them to go and then turned to me. He got up and told me to follow.

We exited the building and started to walk to the academy.

"If I may Oji-san what are we doing?" I asked as we entered the academy.

"I am introducing you to my grandson, you are going to be escorting him to and from the academy and if you could I would like you to act like a big-brother to him. Sooner or later I don't think it will be an act" The Hokage said. 

'I always wanted a little brother' 

we stopped at a door.

Then the Hokage opened the door......
