First came darkness and then came the light.
When it was dark everything felt like I was walking blindly and couldn't see a thing. I felt blocked.
We wanted to know what was beyond the darkness and what lay behind it all.
That was a mistake.
We were led to the light but sacrifices were made. Somehow it seemed like things would never be the same, it still felt dark.
We had lost ourselves and there was no going back. We were different in ways I could never explain.
All it took was 100 days.
100 days to find the light.
100 days before
How did Sara manage to drag us here on a Saturday night. Of all places we could go she took us here.
No one came here anymore.
Kids used to come her and camp with their parents, swim in the lake, and go fishing.
Now it was empty.
Always.
As we walked through the forest Sara guided us with the flashlight so we wouldn't get lost. None of us wanted to be here. It was just Sara, Jonah, and I and neither of us knew why Sara wanted to come here.
"Can't we just go home." Jonah whined.
"No."
"Why exactly are we here."
She turned around with mischievous look on her face and a smirk.
"Ghosts."
She was officially insane.
"Sara there's no such thing as ghosts." I said as we continued to walk.
She said nothing and continued. Jonah turned to me and rolled his eyes in annoyance.
"She's going crazy." He whispered.
"Okay, I love Sara, but sometimes she does some really questionable shit."
"How did we let her convince us to come here?"
"She has that sort of affect on people."
I looked up. She was gone.
"Did we stray off trail or something?" Jonah questioned.
"We weren't talking for that long, Jonah. She doesn't walk that fast."
I pulled my phone out and turned the flash on.
Less then ten feet away Sara's flashlight was on the ground turned off.
"Weird."
"Mara, she's playing some sick sort of game on us and I don't like it."
"Hold on."
I approached the flashlight and picked it up.

I didn't know it was supposed to rain tonight? I wiped my forehead free of the rain and looked at my fingers.
My heart stopped.
drip

dripI looked up.
A blood piercing, ear shattering scream erupted from my mouth as I stared at my best friend's body hanging from the tree.
And this is where the story starts.
