Dear Diary,
Where do I even start? I didn't even have time to write yesterday because I had a very busy day filled with a lot of juicy stories. Sadly, I had to go to school today and do my homework before I could even write anything. But, let's begin at the beginning. The plan started like I wanted to, but had many twists and turns, and it may have had a better ending than I expected, I haven't decided yet.
So Lucas got here before anyone else did, as expected. I tried to talk to him about my parents, but he kept moving away from me and asking when everyone else would be there, but then he stopped because I asked him why he was acting so weird and he wasn't sure why either. I'm going to switch to dialogue story form now because it's easier.
"So do you want anything to drink? I'm going to grab myself some fruit punch." I had to make sure it would stain his shirt so he had to take it off. It couldn't just be water or anything like that.
"Umm, no I'm good." He paused and sat down on the couch. We both kind of just rested in silence, me pouring myself a glass of juice, him just sitting there. "You mentioned before that your parents weren't really paying any attention to you before I cut you off. Why is that?"
"Oh. Well you know how when I first met you on the subway and Maya dated you for two seconds and then pushed me into your lap I was beginning to 'take on the world' because I was finally mature enough at the age thirteen?"
"Yeah?"
"Well apparently Auggie is mature enough at the age of eight to take on the world, but not quite as much as me. See mom or dad or both still have to be there with him, but he can practically go where ever he wants, whenever he wants. Of course during the day, he takes on the world with Ava and Ava's mom because our parents are at work. But when my parents get home, they go and pick up Auggie, and usually Ava too, and bring them to different parks around the area and big fancy places they have never taken me, and other stuff like that." Lucas wasn't looking that sad for me yet so I guess I had to add some stuff in, even if it wasn't exactly true. "So that is why I had a get together without them knowing toady because when I try to talk to them, they ignore me. And I can't talk to them during dinners anymore because they always eat out but don't bring me, so I have to find food for myself or order food with my own money because they don't leave me anything. I'm going to have to get a job soon, and then I won't have any social life what-so-ever."
"I'm so sorry Riles. You know you are always welcome to join my family and I for our dinners. You know my mom loves you and you are my friend and I don't think Maya would care. Or, you know, we could just not tell her because she might care." Now this is where it got interesting. "Come here. You can just with me and we can just cuddle our worries away together until the rest of the gang get here." And my favorite part about all this, other than the fact that he invited me to cuddle, was that he didn't even question why our friends weren't there yet.
"So you have worries too?"
"Well, yeah. Everyone has worries. My main worry is a jealous Maya right now because whenever she even sees me looking at a girl, or she thinks I'm looking at a girl, she'll question if I like her. Like our kiss for example, she talked to me for like three hours about it. I just feel like she herself is looking for a way out of our relationship and I don't know what I did. I just don't want to hurt her, y'know? Like, she has been through so much in her life and she is such a strong, independent girl, and I don't want to be the one to bring her down." Maybe Maya wants out of their relationship. That would make my job a lot easier.
"Why would you hurt her? You're not planning on breaking up with her are you? I guess it's justified if you just don't like her like that anymore, but don't do that if you are just worried she wants out. She's Maya, she does a lot of things because of how she grew up. Wait and see what happens." I had to make sure I didn't look like a thirsty bitch ready to pounce on my best friend's boyfriend, to put it in short.
