On the way over Alec told Claire’s dad the whole story of what had happened during the last few days, sounds a bit nutty he said, I would have thought the same but Claire has seen this girl twice now, so unless we’re caught up in the same dream then this is really happening.
They arrived at Alec’s front door which Alec unlocked and tried to open but couldn’t, blast I forgot about the bolts inside they are still in place, Alec had hardly got the words out of his mouth when they both heard the bolts sliding back, now that’s definitely strange said Mr Telfer, shall we? You want to go in? yeah this has got me intrigued, it’s got you intrigued? it scares the crap out of me, remember I have to live here. Let’s put it this way if whatever it is or what you think it is, it wants us to go in otherwise it wouldn’t have taken those bolts out would it.
In they went now tell me if there’s anything wrong Mr Telfer said, they went through each room in turn and there was nothing out of place it was just as Alec had left it that morning, but they left the bathroom until last, it was exactly the same as the other rooms nothing had been disturbed. They both sat down and looked at each other Mr Telfer spoke first there doesn’t seems to be anything too wrong here by your own admission Alec the place is exactly how you left it, I know he replied it’s those bolts that withdrew themselves that got to me, that was a little peculiar and I can’t answer that for you, but I’d better get back otherwise Claire will think I’ve been spirited away. Thanks Mr Telfer, but whatever you do don’t tell Claire about the door bolts otherwise she’ll freak out, don’t worry I won’t there’s no need to worry her. Alec locked and bolted the door behind Mr Telfer and he blew out a sigh of relief I’m not sure if I’m glad or disappointed that there was nothing out of the ordinary he thought.
It was another evening spent confined to home for Alec and hopefully the last one for him as he couldn’t see Claire wanting to spend any time with him there, the look on her face said it all she was really frightened by the whole experience not that he was super relaxed. He spent another uninterrupted evening and night and woke refreshed got himself ready without incident and went to work. Claire passed the store as usual from school and asked if everything was alright, yes no problems at all, very quiet I must admit he said smiling to her. I’ll call for you later when I’ve finished work, well I’ve got homework I’ve got to do first so make it around 6.00pm, okay fine by me I’ll see you later after kissing her on the cheek and off she went.
Alec returned home had a bite to eat and then set off to see Claire. They spent their time in the park and met up with some of their friends, but nothing was ever mentioned about the strange incidents that they had witnessed, this they were going to keep to themselves. Alec walked Claire home and told her that he wouldn’t probably see her until the weekend as they were to do a stock take at work which meant a couple of late nights and although he would miss her the extra money would come in handy, Don’t worry I’ll still see you every day as I come from school, keeping a check on me I see, no she said, well yes, I just want to make sure you’re okay that’s all. I’ll be fine, they kissed each other goodnight and Alec went home.
The next couple of days were very uneventful but Claire still made a point of seeing Alec every day as she came home from school but everything was fine.
