Hours later, I was tired of being social and polite. My head hurt, and I was still aching from all the planet-saving we had done earlier. So who better to find when I was tired and grumpy? My trusty companion Ellie of course. Wandering through the crowd around the edge of the dance floor scanning for El's yellow hair. The last I had seen her, she had been chatting with a group of people around eighteen or nineteen, the same age as herself.
As I rounded a corner, I finally caught sight of my missing friend, talking to the prince of some kingdom or another. A small twinge of jealousy panged in my chest as I saw that he was flirting with her, but I sqashed it. It wasn't fair to either of us for me to feel this way. As I got closer, I saw the expression on Ellie's face become uncomfortable, like she was nervous. As I sped up to get to her and see what was wrong, the expression became full blown panic. Her eyes widened in fear, her face grew pale. She turned around, and looked like she would have made a run for it if she hadn't tripped and fallen. I was at her side in a second, but as I helped her up, the fear in El's face didn't fade. She picked herself up of the floor and ran out of the hall, me following right behind her.

I finally got back to the TARDIS, away from the pressing heat and prying eyes. I had a stich in my side, and tears were slipping down my face, but I hardly noticed. My brain was going into overdrive, struggling to think through the panic. Think El. Think. I had learned that the best way to calm myself down after a panic attack like the one that had just occurred was to take stock of eveything that had happened in the last couple of hours leading up to the attack. It helped me remind myself that I was in the present and memories couldn't hurt me.
"Alright, Ellie. You were going to get ready for a ball. You had to pick a dress, you chose a blue velvet one. You and the Doctor left for the ball. You danced a little. You talked to nice people. Now you're in the TARDIS. You're safe."
After a few minutes, I pulled myself of the floor and went to go take a shower. I knew the Doctor would want answers, and he wasn't that far behind, but I wanted at least a few minutes of relaxation before telling my story.

I had been in the TARDIS for an hour by the time I saw Ellie again. She wandered into the kitchen, a vacant expression sitting on her face like it had wandered in and gotten lost. I handed her a cup of tea, and she turned to me with a strained smile, a pale imitation of her usual dazzlingly bright grin.
"You read my mind." She said softly, and I could only watch as she sank into her chair, a huge green plush monstrosity that she had wanted to use in the kitchen.
"You don't have to tell me anything you know." I told her softly, sitting im my own ( normal ) kitchen chair, facing her across the table. "You could tell me tomorrow. Or next week, or even next year if you wanted to. We've only known each other about a year. Well, more like two and a half, but we've lived together for a year. I've never even seen your room, and we live in the same house, well TARDIS, but close enough." Ellie clutched her teacup as if it would sprout wings and try to escape, and smiled that pale imitation smile at me.
"No" She spoke very softly, but she drew in another breath and tried again. "No, you deserve to know right now. Even if we have only known each other for a year, I trusted you from the start. Enough to take you up on the offer of life in the stars after thirty minutes. You're my best friend, more then any friend I knew my whole life. You deserve to know."
