*********************Ellie's POV*******************

Still giggling from the encounter in the main kitchen, I let myself into my room, and from there into my private kitchen. I didn't know how she had done it, but the TARDIS had given me a complete apartment instead of just a bedroom and a private bathroom, somehow sensing my need for my own space. There were two doors in my bedroom, and while one of them was just the bathroom, the other was like falling down the rabbit hole to Wonderland. Upon opening it, you were confronted with a state-of-the-art kitchen. Past that was a complete mini-movie theater, with all of my favorite movies and TV shows programmed into some kind of computer system (seriously, I had been raised like minor royalty and had never had anything like this). Past that was a fancy sitting room, I assumed for entertaining guests, although I didn't see the point when nobody but me was ever in there. Even further back though, was my favorite room. Despite giving me a walk in closet and clothes of every kind for every occasion possible on any planet, my favorite sentient ship had given me a dress up room. More than just clothes, it contained full on costumes.Everything from Medieval princess costumes, with yards and yards and yards of thick velvets and wispy silks, to the dragon that terrorized her kingdom (albeit represented in a somewhat historically inaccurate manner), a skintight dress made of scaly looking iridescent fabric. The dress up room was as safe haven, a place where I could be anyone I could dream up.

In the kitchen I made plans to visit the costume room as soon as I put the scones in the oven. After the serious tone of last night, both the Doctor and I could use some fun. As I set to work on the batter, I sang, somehow feeling more at ease than I had since I first started traveling with the Doctor, feeling like I was there to stay now that I had told part of my life that only a few people had ever heard.

*******************The Doctor"s POV********************

Pancake batter was the spawn of the Devil. Seriously, whoever invented the stuff should have made it easier to get out of hair. After cleaning the kitchen to the best of my ability without a pressurized hose, I went to take a shower, which ended up taking about an hour longer then I thought it would, due to the glue like bond that the batter had formed with my hair gell, making it extremely difficult to get the slimy hair product and food mess off my head.

After winning the battle, I put on a clean suit, and redid my hair, before heading off to Ellie's room. Surprisingly my ship actually let me in, but upon entering El's room, I came to the conclusion that she was not there. On second glance, I noticed that one of the two doors along the wall was open, and the delicious smell of warm food was drifting through it. Following my nose, I found myself in a smallish but professinial looking kitchen. There was a fancy double oven mounted on the wall opposite the door, and the light was on the top half, alowing me to see what looked like a cookie sheet of scones baking. On the island in front of the ovens was a bowl of chopped fruit, and next to the cook top by the ovens was a dirty pan and a paper towl covered plate that, judging by the aroma, contained sausage for me and bacon for Ellie. On the counter, there was yet another plate, conatining both white and rye toast. It looked like my lovely companion had cooked the perfect breakfast feast for the two of us.

Having been (understandably) fixated on the food, I then noticed the faint sounds of electric guitar and drums, along with what was unmistakeably Ellie's voice coming from deeper within what appeared to be a large and luxurious flat. Following the sound, I wove my way through a small movie theater complete with the largest and plushest sofa I had ever seen and a popcorn machine, through a room that looked like a parlour, and found myself in a room that I can only describe as a costume designer's heaven.

Along every wall there were large cupboards, as tall as me. They were all closed execpt for two, but judging from the fabric explosion in one and the shoe-pocalypse occuring in the other, I culd guess what they contained. Tucked next to one of the cabinets was a large vanity with industrial looking lightbulbs surrounding it, the surface covered not only in ordinary makeup, but in tubes of face paint, body glitter, packets of rinestones, and things I couldn't imagine names for, let alone purposes. Seated at this table was Ellie, not applying makeup, but just sitting there, looking at her reflection and singing.

"With every breath that I am worth...here on Earth...." She crooned softly at her reflection. " I'm sending all my love to you". As she kept singing softly, swaying a little to the gentle guitar in the backround, I smiled. She had a beautiful voice and I didn't want her to stop singing. I decided that breakfast could wait, I would let her finish the song.

".....My beating heart belongs to you...I walked for miles til I found you....I'm here to honor you..If I lose everything in the fire...I'm sending all my love to you. Her voice harmonized perfectly with the male singer's, forming a duet, that, for some reason, I found almost heartbreakingly beautiful. For the first time since I had met her, I began to let myself dream of the possibilty that maybe Ellie could be mine.

"... My beating heart belongs to you...I walked for miles til I found you...I'm here to honor you..if I lose everything in the fire..did I ever make it through?"

The far away expression on Ellie's face lasted until the next song began, the harsher sound chasing away her dreamy gaze. She finaly notice me in the doorway, and a smile full of delight filled her face.

"Hooray!" she cried "You have vanquished the evil Pancake King! We will have a feast to celebrate. But first, you need new clothes. One simply does not wear their everyday suit to a feast of victory!" She stood and I saw that she was wearing a fancy dress, all floor length skirt and low cut neckline, black satin with red peeking out from a slit up the skirt. When she turned, presumably to find clothes for me, I saw thick, heavy duty combat boots peeking out from the hem, and smiled.
