We looked over at mum while her facial expression went from

'Thanks for calling'

To

'But she was perfectly fine a month ago'

She had received a call from our cousin — Alison, who was obviously filling her in on some bad news about our Aunt Patty.

Aunt Patty wasn't exactly the must healthy person on earth.

Asthma.

Diabetes.

Pressure.

All belonged to her, oh and Heart problems.

I felt really bad for Aunt Patty most of the time because we weren't allowed to get her

Angry

Overly excited

Overly sad

Or shocked.

And I could tell from Mum's expression that she wasn't doing to well.

Gemma and I were eavesdropping from the top of the stairs.

Gemma looked over at me, "She should die, I mean God should take her soul and let her RIP poor Aunt Patty"

As nice as Gemma was trying to sound.

She didn't.

Mum hung up the phone and said something unexpected.

"Gemma and Harry, I see , come down the stairs" she said, sitting down on the couch.

We all laughed as Gemma and I raced down the stairs and plopped ourselves on either side of our Mum.

"How is she mum?" Gemma asked, a worried look on her face.

"Not so well, that's what I wanted to talk to you two about" Mum said.

"She's moving in?" I asked curiously.

Mum and Gemma laughed at me.

"No silly, but I'm flying over to San Fransisco to help her until she gets better"

"oh" was all I managed to say.

"Can I trust you two to stay here while I'm gone?"Mum asked us.

We nodded.

"Of course" we said in sync, before having a mini family group hug.

"Stay safe!" I called out to my Mum as she walked away.

She nodded.

"We love you!" Gemma added.

And with that she disappeared

It was going to be so weird, only us kids in the house, no adult supervision at all.

The car ride home was silent and we made it almost instantly.

"The house will be a bore without mum" I sighed, as I sat on one of the dining hall chairs.

Gemma nodded in a agreement as she pulled out a chair and put her fists to her cheeks.

"So now what little brother?" She asked me.

I shrugged.

What was there to do anyways?

"I guess we can pursue our dream of having a house party" Gemma suggested after a whole five minutes of silence.

A house party?
