I wake up with the voices of a woman who was talking softly with someone. I groaned and my hands went to my eyes to cover them from the light.

— What time is it? I asked while sitting.

The woman and her interlocutor were staring warily at me. I recognized the partner of Jessie. The woman was a stranger. She had a dark brown skin and long hair in numerous tiny tress that were tied together with a navy blue and gold hairgrip. She was tall and skinny. She could have been a model was it not for the car on the left side of her chiseled face, near the ear.

— It's 3 o'clock. PM, she answered.

— I guessed since the sun is so bright.

Yeah I was not a genius but I could still distinguish day and night.

— Well excuse us for being precise but usually people of your kind do not wake up, if they do, they prefer night time, and after what happened they are completely confused.

— I already wake up once. I had time to register now.

— What? When did you awake?

The woman was probably my new doctor, she looked through her paper and looked back at me.

— Jessie? Right?

I nodded.

She turned to her companion and sighted.

— Erik, would you mind telling your partner to not come in uninvited and to not approach her without authorization. I can't do my job properly if he interfere.

— I will.

He exited the white room.

So I was now alone with my "doctor".

— What is your name?

She stilled and I thought she would not answer.

— My name is Dalilah.

I observed her as she checked different screens that surrounded me. Some of them were I never saw. My attention fell on something very familiar. Was that my heart rate? This lazy wave? I felt my pulse and became entranced by the oddity.

Dalilah opened a drawer and approached me with her files.

— I'm the scientist of the Behemoth department. I will ask some questions. If you feel thirsty you tell me and we stop everything. You are dangerous and I don't think you want me to use that because you tried to feed on me. Neither do I. You are an interesting subject and I'll prefer to keep you alive.

She flashed a gun in front of me. I gulped air and nodded quickly. Didn't want to experience death soon again.

— Good. So what do you remember before Jessie and Erik found you?

I explained in details what I remembered of the night that changed me.

— Okay. Now about the shield...

I talked all the rest of the day. The shield, how my body reacted to the smell of blood. What I felt when I waked up. Then she tested my hearing, my sense of smell and my vision. I was very good especially when it came to hearing. When dark came someone knocked at the door.

— Enter.

The woman that saw me when I first wake up passed her head in the room.

— You coming? We have fries and steak tonight.

— Yeah. Just a sec.

Dalilah closed her files and put her gun away. She get up and walked to the door.

— Wait?

She stopped and turned to me.

— What about me?

She chuckled.

— I don't think you are going to like what we eat. You do not feed the same way anymore remember?

I felt stupid so I did not stopped her when she went out and closed the door. I heard the key in the locket and the steps of the woman fading away.

I looked around and sighed.

— Then what I am supposed to do now?
