Charles stopped before a white door in a blue corridor. We were in a house next the facilities were I was lodged for the last few days. I nearly broke my nose on his back because I was not paying attention. He laughed.

— Be careful Camille.

— I am. It's you who stopped without warning.

— Yeah, whatever.

He took out a key and unlocked the door.

— This would be your new home. If you need anything just ask. We'll do our best to make you comfortable in the house.

I looked around me and assessed the withe and green room. There was a big bed with blue sheets, a light honey brown commode and an assorted desk. I appreciated the green sofa and the wide French window. The last rays of sun were entering in abundance in the room.

I was glad the fact vampires could not stand sun was a lie. I loved bathing in the sun as much as party at night. Dalilah had already told me that this common knowledge came from the fact it was easier to conceal their nature in the dark so vampires grow used to show only in shadowed places.

I noticed a digital board near the entrance of my new quarters and turned it on. An image of the corridor appeared on the screen.

— This is so you know who is standing in front of your door. And You can talk through it. The security is locked on so you can't exit if I or another entitled person is not on the other side. When we will be sure you can control yourself we will take that off.

— That's smart. So that means I have to call you or chaperon if I want to go out?

— Yes. Except in case of emergency, like a fire. In that case it will be deactivated and you can open the door manually.

I smiled. I liked how they were organized.

— So I'll see you later this afternoon Camille. Just call for me when you are ready and have finished to make yourself at home. There is some clothes that should fit you in the closet and some supplies in the bathroom. I'm sure you will manage to understand how the alarm works.

— Yeah I'm sure I can.

Before Charles left I called out to him.

— Charles!

I fidgeted with my fingers and met his gaze.

— Thank you.
