His POV

"You're so weird. Who the heck hates ladybugs? They never did anything to you," She laughed as she rambled slightly, turning her palms up to emphasize the vibe of the statements.

"Yes they did! One bit me once when I was a kid and it hurt really badly." He whined, and he knew it, but he could see the glimmer in her eyes when he played cute.

"Anyways, besides learning that ladybugs also dislike you, this date has been pretty fun." She smiled, taking a step onto her patio.

"Well I'm glad you enjoyed it, that was my goal." He joked, returning the warm smile back.

The date had gone well. He learned lots about her as well, it didn't just consist of him spilling random childhood stories from when he was one hundred and four.

"I always enjoy my time spent with you," She replied smoothly, making Shawn's cheek flush a light pink.

"I'll see you around?" Shawn offered, surprised when she kissed him on the cheek before he turned to leave.

On the way home, he couldn't stop smiling to himself as he recalled the conversation and events of earlier.

Once again, he happily floated to the cabin, lost in his thoughts until the Jacks interrupted him.

"Dude, what's got you so heart eyed?" Johnson asked, lightly joking as Gilinsky agreed.

"W-what? Oh, nothing. It's nothing." He stuttered out, hoping it wouldn't raise too much suspicion to the point of questioning further.

"Shawn– C'mon, tell us," He drew out, making Shawn slightly more nervous than before.

What will they say if he tells them it's because of Brooklyn? They didn't quite approve last time he brought it up, but typically they don't like him talking to anyone else.

"Wait a minute," Gilinsky rested his palm on Jack's shoulder, "is this about that girl?"

His eyes didn't exactly show hate, so Shawn took it as a sign to continue.

"Yeah," he paused, "is there something wrong with that?"

"No, it's fine," He shrugged, Johnson nodding silently.

"Okay, because I was actually thinking about asking her to be my girlfriend."

"What?" The Jacks both slowly said in unicent, exchanging uneasy glanced between each other.

"Yeah, if that's alright and stuff, I wanted to ask because you guys are like my brothers and she makes me—"

"Shawn, you can't."

His sentence stopped short as he face noticeably fell from the happy expression moments ago, his eyes softening.

"What? Why?" He asked innocently and low, his eyes shifting back and forth from the two.

"You're a vampire. We're werewolves. You just gotta face the facts— we don't get along with humans, they don't like us." Johnson tried putting it nicely, avoiding certain truths to manipulate Shawn's view into theirs.

"But I like her. So what if I'm not like her? I was human once," He gritted, attempting to keep his temper calm and under control so it would prevent another breakout over her.

"We know Shawn. We've had those flings before too, and believe me—"

"Did you just call her a fling? She's some fling you toy around with for a little bit and ditch after a few days. I like her, why can't you see that?"
He could feel the heat building inside him, tempted to release it on the Jacks again.

"No you don't, you're just tired of being told no even when it's for your own good." Gilinsky shot back, staring at Shawn.

"You wouldn't know what good for me, you're a brainless werewolf, not a vampire. So next time you have the urge to drink blood, I suggest you shut your mouth."  He spit, his glaring red eyes showing no signs of kindness.

"You know what? You can get the hell out of here." Jack scoffed, rolling his eyes.

"Damn straight I was going to," Shawn didn't bother to argue.

"Shawn, don't be this way, you know—"

"You can shut your cake hole too, Johnson." He warned, morphing into his bat form before they could yell at him again and escaping through the window.

Why were they so against it? He would tell her eventually if—no, when they lasted and she trusted him.

He was done with being a vampire. There were hunters out there who lived to kill vampires, no matter if they were like Shawn and never hurt anyone.

There were no good benefits from it, honestly. Being immortal? Sucks. Watching all your friends grow up and age while you're stuck in an 120 year old body, posing as a twenty year old.

The only way he can die is getting his head chopped off, but unless there's a guillotine laying around in the twenty-first century, he's pretty much out of luck.

It simply wasn't fair. Was he supposed to remain alone for more centuries to come? While they had each other and he had no one?

He wanted what they had. He wanted to experience love and heartbreak, family and care.

But most of all, he just wanted it to end.
