"Okay thank you very much. The next meeting will be in approximately two weeks and we're going to discuss the development of the new hygiene product lines for those who wear dentures and braces. Now grab hands for the closing. May the Lord watch. Between me and thee. While we're absent. One from another. Forever. Amen. Now you're free to leave and any ideas you have please email them to me. Have a blessed weekend." I say as I wrapped up my last meeting for the day with Sam's Club and Wal-Mart. Thank God it was friday. I was very exhausted. I've been here since eight o'clock this morning and it's now six in the evening and I still had to meet with my baby father about how the kids are going to spend their summer break. Marcus wants a job and Monae wants to take voice lessons and acting lessons which means they won't have time to actually enjoy their summer so we're trying to come up with a solution because they'd be out of school in three weeks. Marissa had the kids and is going to be dropping them off later around at nine. I got my things together, spoke to everyone, got in my car and headed home.
I finally made it home and literally almost fell out on the floor. I was tired honey. I slid my shoes off, put on my Spongebob slippers, took off my clothes, took a shower and put on some capri jogging pants and a t shirt. I put my hair in a bun on top of my head and plopped down on my couch awaiting the arrival of my baby father. About an hour later, I get a knock on my door and it's him. I inwardly rolled my eyes but let him in anyway.
"Hey Mo. How ya doin ?" He asked as he came in and sat at my dining room table. I sat down in front of him with my notebook and pen.
"I'm great and you ?" I asked. He smirked.
"I'm wonderful now after seeing you" He said. I rolled my eyes. He does this every time he came over.
"Drew I'm tired and sleepy, so please cut the bullshit and let's get down to business concerning our kids" I said sternly. He raised his hands up in surrender.
"Okay Okay Mo. You got it" He said. We dove right in. Of course we disagreed over almost everything but we finally got the game plan complete. See Drew's a personal trainer with his own gym. He takes every other summer off to spend time with the kids and take them wherever they want. The summers he doesn't have them, they're in summer programs, volunteering and studying. Something constructive that will keep their minds strong and keep them out of trouble. I refuse to have a daughter that becomes a teen mother droput, in love with a thug statistic. I refuse to have my son drop out of school, hustling moving drugs for a drug lord, and taking care of a baby from a little fast tail girl who couldn't keep her legs closed. Anyway, we finally came together on one accord.
"Okay you're going to have them all summer vacation from May 18th to August 1st because they go back August 6th and that'll give me time to spend with them before they go back to school. We'll both buy them school clothes." I said looking over my reading glasses from my notepad.
He said "Okay. I plan on taking them to California for three weeks. New York for three weeks. Tennessee for three weeks. Louisiana for two weeks. Alabama for two weeks and for the fourth of July I'm taking them to Disney World for fireworks." I wrote this all down.
"Okay well that just about settles it. You can go now." I said dismissing him. We were cordial when it came down to the kids but other than that we are not friends or lovers. That part of our relationship has been over. He looked at me weirdly.
"What" I asked.
"Why you acting like that ? You know you still love me so why are we playing this co parent game. We could be a family but you playing." He said so sure of himself. I took my glasses off and just looked at him.
"Drew we've went over this a million times. That part of our relationship is over. You messed that up by sleeping with my bestfriend. Not once, not twice, not three, four or five times but multiple times. Then y'all continued a relationship for a year until she left you for the football player. And now you wanna crawl back to me with this lets be a family bull crap. Man if you don't get out of my house." I said as I grabbed a glass, a bottle of wine and poured a glass of wine. He stood there looking dumb. I sipped from my glass.
"I'm heading home. Tell Marissa to drop them off at my house." He said and walked out slamming the door. I don't give two shakes of a donkey's ass about his attitude. He knew what the deal was when I moved out with my kids and told him I'd never consider a relationship with him again. He broke my heart and my trust that day.
I met him when I was twelve and he was thirteen. We became friends and began dating at fourteen and fifteen. We dated all through high school and college. I gave him my virginity in my third year in college and got pregnant with marcus. I was juggling three jobs, classes, paying rent at my apartment and trying to keep up my grades so I could keep my scholarship. I didn't tell my parents until after his birth. They were disappointed but said as long as I took care of him, graduated and became successful they were fine with it. I did just that. I worked, kept my grades up, graduated summa cum laude, took care of marcus, and started my company as I was going back to college for the second time. Drew graduated and started a job as a personal trainer so he was rarely there. Around my second year in college I got pregnant again with Monae. I was disappointed that I couldn't finish out college for the second time without getting pregnant. But I managed to take care of two kids, pay bills, keep my grades, graduate in the top of my class again and run a company. By this time my company was growing and I had made my first million dollars while Drew was doing nothing but going to the gym everyday. He was making little money and with that money he wasn't even spending it on the kids he was spending it on himself.
When I made my first million, I moved out of the apartment with my two kids into a condo. Drew stayed in the apartment because I told him that he either get another better paying job and start helping pay rent or stay in the apartment. He chose the apartment over his family that he so called loved. That was strike one. Strike two was when he started acting secretive and barely came around to spend time with us. He claimed that he was too busy and that caused many arguments. Like how can you be too busy for your girlfriend/baby mother and your two kids. He wasn't doing anything for us. It was always me taking the kids to daycare, going to classes, running a company, picking up the kids from daycare, paying the daycare fees, paying bills, making sure my kids are paid for and taken care of, and trying to keep it all together without breaking down. He did nothing but come by ever so often to eat up my food, have sex with me when he felt like it, spend an hour with the kids, and ask for money. The last and final strike was when I caught him in bed with my bestfriend. I still remember that day.
