FRIENDS: Make Up

Since I'm not really all into the whole beauty/fashion thing, so the very few parts I have about them will be under friends. Today's topic: make up. (this topic was inspired by a girl in one of my classe attempting to put make up on several boys).

GIRLS THAT DON'T WEAR MAKE UP

I really don't get this. Well, I understand girls whose parents don't let them wear makeup until they're ___ years old, but I just don't understand girls who think they're all that because they don't wear it. How does not wearing make up translate into you being a better person than them? If it's because you're not "being fake" let me tell you not all people who wear make up are fake. If it's your choice to not wear it and you think people who do wear it are fake, you probably just insulted your mom or aunt or cousin.

I find this even on wattpad (which I've been reading for a long time before making this account). The main character describes (sometimes quite often) how they only wear mascara. I probably read into it too much to know if it's true or not, bit you're making it sound like your character is so pretty she only needs mascara if anything at all! Now what bothers me is that this habit doesn't usually fit their character. If it's a tomboy then it's more believable than if the character is popular/cheerleader/etc.

CHRISTIAN GIRLS WHO DON'T WEAR MAKE UP

First off let me say that I am a Christian girl, so I'm allowed to do this. It bothers me how more Christian girls wear make up than non-Christian girls (just from what I've noticed). Again, I just don't get it! The Bible never says to not wear make up or that wearing make up is of the devil/a sin/you'll go to hell for it. Wearing make up doesn't make you fake or phony at all, so why not?

GIRLS WHO WEAR TOO MUCH MAKE UP

It's called a happy medium. There is going overboard with make up especially when you're first figuring out what's going on. However the girls who wear so much black eye liner you'd mistake them for a raccoon are the ones who know what's going on and want to do that. Personally I think it looks trashy, but I'm not going to tell them not to wear it (or they're satanic/a sinner/going to hell) because of it. If they're my friends I'll say "Hey, that looks bad. Don't wear your make up like that. You're better than that."

MY OPINION ( AKA THE HAPPY MEDIUM)

Now since I've been saying what I think is bad/bad reasoning, you're probably wondering what I think is good. My perspective is "get color on your face". It keeps you from looking washed out/dead/like you just woke up. That probably sounds a bit cryptic, so I'll explain starting with my everyday makeup.

Usually I put on foundation (adding color to my face but I also use it as a concealer), blush (adding color to my cheeks), eyeshadow (to add color to my eyes), and mascara (to make my eyes pop). Sometimes I'll use eyeliner with or in place of eyeshadow. It just depends on what I'm feeling that day. All of that takes about five minutes to put on (and I'm a perfectionist about eyeshadow and mascara). By adding color to your face, you liven it up and wake yourself up too! I never wake up in the mornings till I have my mascara on.

It's also about balance, too. If I have dark eyeshadow (and I'm using eye liner) I'll go for somethig lighter. If I'm wearing dark eye liner, I'll go for a lighter eyeshadow color.

SUMMARY

-Wearing or not wearing make up does not make you better than anybody. If you think it does I would like a good explanation in a comment or private message.

-Not wearing make up does not make you a better Christian, and wearing it will not make you end up in hell.

-It's understandable when a beginner wears heav make up, but (in my opinion) it looks bad as a regular thing.

-I believe in the concept of color.

-My make up is: Foundation, Blush, Eyeshadow, and Mascara.

-Make up is fun! Keep it that way, but don't go all clown or raccoon on me! =D
