"Natalia!" I heard the bell like and cheerful voice of Lucrezia, Cesare and I turned round to face her beaming smile she lightly hugged me.
"Sister" Cesare smiled in greeting and kissed her check.
"Brother is what I recently heard true. That you have taken Natalia as your ward."
"News does travel fast" I comment and she giggled
"Yes my love, you did." Lucrezia took my hand and kissed it
"Welcome to the family. Now dear brother I must get to know my new sister. If you would be so kind" he chuckled as i looked at him.
"If it is alright with the Lady Natalia" I looked back at Lucrezia who smiled
"Of course I would be honoured"
"Very well then. Lady Natalia I shall have you a room prepared in which will be your new home also I have commissioned new dresses be made for you. I bid you goodbye" he kissed his sister one last time before leaving.
"So tell me Natalia Orsini what do you think you your new guardian?"
"His Lordship is very kind thus far as is his Holiness. I feared I would not have such luxuries if anyone else was Pope. And I beg of you please do not use my last name. The thought of sharing blood with a cruel man of the cloth scares me."
"As you wish it so it shall be. Now come, I heard that there was a painter within the walls" she took my hand and we make our way into what is forbidden for me to enter yet Lucrezia brought me forth anyway. She peeked past the wall and gestured for me to wall as we scurried towards a pillar. While she walked forth I stood by the pillar in full view watching as Lucrezia went towards the canvas that said painter was drawing.
"She is beautiful" Lucrezia commented
"She is" the artist replied
"More beautiful than your painting."
"I've just begun
"You must do better then, her hair curls. Here" she then left the easel.
"Who is she?" Lucrezia asked
"Giulia Farnese. At your service" the woman replied
"Why is he painting you Giulia Farnese?"
"Your Father, the pope commissioned him."
"Will he paint one of me" she asked stroking the baby goat.
"I will commission him, now" the goat bleats as Lucrezia makes her way round the Lady Giulia
"Why are you holding a baby goat"
"It will become a unicorn" the artist said
"Then I want a Unicorn! Or even better - a sea horse, what do you think Natalia" she looked over at me.
"Very befitting Lucrezia" she smiled as she stroked the little baby goat.
"I was to lie on a bed of sea shells and have a sea horse in my lap"
"Like this one" Giulia commented holding her necklace. Lucrezia waltzed round to face her
"Yes, like this one"
"You must have it then."
"I can?" she asked and Lady Giulia removed it from around her neck.
"It is a gift from Giulia to Lucrezia" she gave her the necklace.
"Can I kiss you then?"
"Only if we are to be friends"
"We are friends already just like Natalia and I" she kissed her cheek
"Natalia come here" I walked over to her
"This is Natalia Orsini, but she doesn't not like to be addressed my her full name. She is my brother's Ward." Giulia Farnese bowed her head a little and I did in return.

I was given a room in the Vatican till a suitable home was made. When the next morning came I was dressed and my long and curly brown hair brushed and pinned. There was a knock on the door.
"Come In" the door opened and in walked Cesare."
"My Lord"
"Little One what have I told you to call me when we are not in public"
"Cesare"
"Then call me such"
"Are you living quarters to your liking little one."
"Yes they are although...may I confess something...Cesare"
"In me you can at all times" I sat to look out the window and down at the city.
"Before my parents died the treated me so kindly like parents should. Before my eighth birthday they promised me that I could have any pet I desired. But they died before I could even choose."
"Do you wish to have a pet?"
"I wish to have a companion by my side. Lucrezia lives with your mother and won't always want to be with me she is fourteen and it is likely his Holiness will want her to be married. I won't have her forever and I'm not easy making friends."
"You shall have anything you desire Lady Natalia, name it and you shall have it."
"I will tell you if you answer one question?"
"What is it that you ask?"
"Why are you so kind to me. You barely know me? I have heard that my late Uncle tried to poison his holiness"
"Where have you heard that"
"Around"
"Natalia we have very little friends now that my father is the pope. They were rare anyway because of our heritage. So when we find someone who is like you and does not care about what we are and more of who we are. We show them kindness in return."
"So because I have no quarrel or disrespect that your father is the voice of God you show me kindness."
"That and your childhood was ripped away from you at such a young age. Now what animal would you see as a companion." i smiled
"A Monkey" he chuckled
"Then a monkey you shall have. I tell you what why don't I escort you to the market where you shall pick one of your choosing."
"Really?"
"Yes, now come." we walked though the Vatican where I heard shouting.
"Don't you want them to hear you have a new whore?" we made our way round the corner and saw Vanozza.
"Mother" Cesare went to her as she walked into the Pope's chambers
"Farnese"
"Get out" His Holiness ordered
"That you installed her in the Orsini Palace?"
"Leave!...Be Gone!" Cesare ordered shooing the Cardinals away and I followed. He turned back to me.
"Now I believe we have a monkey to buy" he escorted me to the market where I picked one out. I name him Cesrezia. While back in the Vatican I was sent back to my chambers and I played with Cesrezia.
