After nearly seven months in London, I moved in with Brian and Roger. I had been with them for almost a month at this point. I use to share the room with Brian. In some way, it felt like I removed a huge weight from my shoulders, I'm referring to the overdue rent. I took some of the money from my rehearsals, and with a little help from Brian, I paid it. Mrs Henderson took back the eviction order, and after explaining everything to her, she "forgave" me. I told my parents, friends and Damian that I didn't live in that flat complex anymore and gave them the new telephone number and address. But I left out the part that I was sharing a flat with two guys, that would've ended badly. I lied, telling them that I was sharing a flat with a group of people because it was cheaper and closer to my work. On Roger's birthday, we threw a crazy party in their flat. I would be lying if I said I remembered everything from that night. But the next morning, I had a killer hangover, and the only functioning being was Wings. I also found a new job at Genesis, the pub where we celebrated Brian's and my birthday. I was working full-time. I use to have rehearsals every day except for the weekends, and shows were on Tuesdays and Thursdays. I use to work at the pub each afternoon and on the nights where I didn't have shows. I didn't work weekends though I was always scheduled to start in the afternoon and get off at midnight. Brian use to wait for me to return home with a cup of tea before going to bed, but sometimes, when I got home, I found him asleep on the couch.
Meanwhile, Queen's success was growing after they signed with Elektra. With their first album, they started to perform in pubs and festivals around London. Finally, they started working on their second album, so our flat was covered in sheet music and papers with lyrics scribbled on them.
I bet you're thinking that since I lived with Brian, we had sex everyday. No, we didn't. We only had 'sexy time' on the weekends, and that didn't always happen. When he was free, I was tired or I was sketching or Roger was around. When I was free, he was doing band stuff with Roger or performing. Slowly, I became the main of the house, but that never bothered me. I was always the first to wake up, so I use to make breakfast. Last night, Friday night, I got home really late, and as soon as I hit the bed, I was asleep. I woke up the following morning before the guys, they had stayed up later than me to continue working on a song. I moved silently to the kitchen and started preparing breakfast. I put the teapot on and started to toast some bread for Brian, and I made eggs for Roger and me. I had the radio on, but it was only loud enough for me to hear. Dead Flowers by The Rolling Stones came on. My hips and whisking the eggs started to follow the rhythm of the music."... And you can send me dead flowers every morning; send me dead flowers by the mail." My voice was almost inaudible. "Send me dead flowers to my wedding, and I won't forget to put roses on your grave..." I turned around and saw Roger smiling at me from the kitchen door. "Oh shit, Roger!" I almost threw everything to the floor. "You're going to give me a heart attack!"
