I step out of the car, parking it outside the fbi headquarters in Quantico, Virginia. Also known as, my new workplace. Today I begin my job as a profiler; working in the behavioral analysis unit of the fbi. I push the nervousness to the back of my mind as I step through the glass doors. I look around and then to the elevators. I step on, punching floor 8. In the elevator I wipe my hands on my jeans and take a deep breath. I had no clue what to expect; hopefully I make a good impression.
When I arrive on the floor, a receptionist greets me, and I politely inform her that I would be working on this floor. She smiled and took a quick look at the badge given to me the day before. "Welcome to the bau, Isabella." She says with a smile and then tells me to go speak with Agent Hotchner as he would give me further instruction. Now if only I knew who he was.
I walk into the main part of the room, also known as the bullpen. Basically where everything happens. Desks fill the center of the room and private meeting rooms and offices surround the perimeter. I stand against the railing and look around. I try not to look completely lost but I guess that it would be obvious to anyone. I suddenly feel a small tap on my shoulder. I jump and then quickly turn around. "Uh- Hi. Are you lost? I was just noticing how you kept looking around and you had a confused expression and- never mind" A tall man asks me. I nod, "I am lost, I am looking for Agent Hotchner, would you happen to know where he is?" I ask with a small polite smile. "I do. Right this way." Says the tall man. I sigh with relief, thank you mystery man, you have come to my rescue. Rescuing me from total embarrassment. I then took this time to examine him. He had short, messy—in a good way—brown hair, he was very tall, he seemed shy, and lastly he looked very young to be a member of the fbi.
"This is his office." The man says, stopping in front of the door. "Oh, I'm Spencer by the way. I should have introduced myself sooner, how rude of me." He said with a small shake of his head. "I'm Isabella, nice to meet you Spencer." I said smiling, extending my hand. "I-I'm sorry, it's just that I do not shake hands. No offense to you of course. It was nice to meet you too Isabella, see you around." He says adding a small smile. I nod understandingly and then he begins to walk off, waving slightly. I retun the wave and then face the door infront of me. My stomach fills with butterflies as I force myself to knock.
"Come in." Says a voice after a moment and then I push open the door. "Agent Hotchner?" I ask, even though I know it is him, the nameplate on the door even said it. "Yes, you must be Miss Jameson. Nice to meet you." He says, extending his hand and I shake it. He quickly went over a few final things and then closed with, "Welcome to the team, I'll have JJ show you to your desk and you can introduce yourself to the team. Don't stress, they are all amazing people." He said, his voice still stern though. "Thank you so much, it is a pleasure to be working here." He nods and then opens the door for me, "If you have any questions don't be afraid to ask." He says as I exit.
Suddenly a thin blonde woman walks up to me, "Hi Isabella, I am Jennifer Jareau but everyone calls me JJ. Follow me, I'll show you to your desk." I smile and nod, following after her. She leads me to a desk behind a dark haired woman and beside the man I met before, Spencer. "If you have any questions just ask." She says before walking off.
I look at my desk and quickly begin to lay out my things and organize; I am very ocd and everything must be perfect. By now I had forgotten to introduce myself and the other team members began to glance back at my desk and I could hear them whispering. I then spoke up, "Hi everyone, I'm Isabella Jameson, but you can call me Bella if you choose to." They all took their turns introducing themselves, one by one. The dark haired woman introduces herself as Emily Prentiss. Then a older man as David Rossi. Another man came foward and introduced himself as Derek Morgan. Then I sit down, as Derek speaks. "Yo, Pretty Boy, not gonna introduce yourself to the new girl?" He asks. "Uh- I- I mean, we met earlier." Spencer replies, his cheeks turning red. "Oh I see." Derek says with a smirk. I can't help but laugh at the exchange. The two are obviously friends. Spencer then rolls his eyes and shakes his head, looking back down at the paperwork in front of him.
By the looks of it, the behavioral analysis unit was close; not only a team but friends or a family. I wondered if they would like me, or include me in things. I decided not to worry too much about it as I was here to work, not to be best friends with them. But being friends sure would be nice.
For the rest of the uneventful day, I worked on paperwork and became more familiar with my surroundings. I didn't talk much, but everyone- including myself- was focused on work.
