airports and bars

We entered the airport, went through security, and then headed off to our gate. It was near the back of the airport and practically no one was there. Of course the jet was just for us but the gates around us were also empty, probably gates for flights later in the day. The jet was refueling at the moment and we were supposed to board in a few minutes. I sat down in a chair, dropping my bag at my feet. Spencer sat down to the right of me and I looked over at him with a small smile. I then looked out the huge window, outside the sky was covered with dark clouds; it looked like it was about to rain. I grabbed my purse, pulled out a book, and started to read. While I read, it started to rain and thunder; I tried to ignore it to the best of my ability- trying not to alert the team of my fear of storms. About 10 minutes later the pilot came over to us and explained that we couldn't depart at that moment as the storm was too strong and would be growing stronger as time progressed. I googled the weather on my phone and apparently there were tornadoes west of us and the storm was headed straight towards us. I had always hated storms, ever since I was a child. I silently prayed that the storm would miss us or deteriorate over time. I threw my phone and book back in my purse and looked out the window again. The sky had darkened and rain poured down. There were a few airport employees out but they seemed like they were in a hurry to get back inside; rushing through whatever they were doing at the moment.

The rest of the team was doing their own thing: JJ was talking to Will on the phone (probably telling him about the delay), Hotch was doing something on his laptop, Rossi was on his phone, Emily was flipping through a magazine, Morgan was on the phone with Garcia, and Spencer was reading book after book. I glanced over at Spencer and nudged him gently with my elbow. He looked over at me and shut his book. "Do you wanna go grab breakfast or something?" I asked, not telling him that I just wanted to do something to get my mind off the storm (and to spend time with him of course). He nodded, standing up. I stood up too. Hotch spoke up, "Where are you going?" He asked. "To get breakfast, do you want to come?" I asked. He shook his head, "I'll let you know when we are about to depart." He said, looking back down to his laptop. "Thank you." I said with a smile, walking out of our gate area and into the long hallway of the airport.

Restaurants were scattered on each side, most of them closed as they were dinner type restaurants. There were a lot of news stands and souvenir style shops, but not a coffee shop or breakfast restaurant in sight. Spencer found a map, and then located a Starbucks. We went there and ordered. We decided to eat in Starbucks.

"What did you get?" He asked, looking at my cup. "White chocolate mocha, what about you?" I responded, taking a sip. "Cappuccino." I nodded, taking another sip. Suddenly a large boom of thunder crashed, I noticeably jumped. "Are you okay?" Spencer asked, a look of concern on his face. I nodded, "I just hate storms." I said, looking out the doors and out a window, lightning flashed outside, striking the ground. I turned around, shaking my head to try and rid the thoughts of the storm. Spencer placed his hand on top of mine, which was resting upon the table. "It's okay Bel, you're gonna be just fine." He said with a smile, squeezing my hand gently. I nodded, smiling a bit. Lucky for me, he left his hand there.

"M-Maybe we should get back to the team, uh, I mean incase the storm gets worse that way we would all be together." Spencer said, looking out the same window. I nodded in agreement, throwing my cup in the trash. The walk back to our terminal was a long one, hopefully the storm would hold off until we got there.

We arrived at our gate, taking back our seats. The rest of the team had coffees, probably from a shop nearby. Thunder boomed outside, lighting flashing through the windows. It was raining heavily now and it might have been hailing, hard to tell.

The pilot returned, explaining that the storm was larger than expected and it might be a while before we could board the jet, let alone take off.  He apologized for the delay and then walked off.
