Clarice's POV
Ever since I was claimed as a daughter of Apollo, I had to move to another school undercover with my other friends, Irene daughter of Demeter, Maria daughter of Hades, Elyza daughter of Hermes, and Steffi daughter of Athena. We were a team! We're all thirteen. The school's located in Los Angeles, California. It's name is Kale High School. I know, it's very far from our last school in Canada.
So far, we managed to stay undercover even with the popular students claiming they're demigods. Specifically, a girl named Katherine Beets, she claims she is a daughter of Zeus, even when she has a father. She can't stop boasting even when it was fake.
The catch to being in the new school was we have to pretend to suck at our best physical abilities. For example, when we have P.E. we got to show that we're below average or else it might raise suspicion among our students. I wasn't able to shine at archery! I'm a freaking daughter of Apollo! Shining is my life goal!
Anyways, today, we have archery up coming for gym. I'm frustrated it's a double period. I mean two hours of not shining. The gods were gracious enough to make us stick together in every subject except one elective. I had English Enrichment, which I totally spammed to the ground...maybe. The teacher sorta was annoyed with me that I kept on making awesome poems that sounded absolutely better than my dad, who the teacher admires much. Don't tell dad. Elyza just chose the extra Greek class. Steffi chose Advanced Classes of Math. Irene chose Agriculture and Maria chose Writing Obituaries. Which is supposed to be creepy, if you ask me. But, being a daughter of Hades? Not so much.
Archery, my best friend, but now we have to act all weak.
Coach Jing had us all share six bows and sixty arrows. Ten arrows each bow. Lucky for me, which means I'm unlucky, we have a mini tournament and they invited some of my siblings! Such as Kate, Lily, Hector, and Andrew. Although they're not known as demigods to the mortals. Just some regular skilled adults.
While the coach was talking to my siblings, Katherine Beets pop out in front of us. "Hey Greek geeks!"
"What do you want?" Maria scowls. Her black hair is now tied up neatly into a bun.
"Just wanted to say good luck hitting the target. I mean, like every other gym class, you fail. And at least you should know how to get a passing grade. Ta-ta!" She waved off walking into the changing room.
I sighed. "Let's go change. Wear something loose. It allows more reflexes."
"It's not like we're allowed to pass this. The next thing you know, I'll be shooting out cake mixes from the arrow." Elyza said with a hint of humor as it ends.
"Come on girls," Steffi said. "We'll pull this off together. Pass or fail, the gods will just bring us to the next grade. We're doing ourselves a favor. A chance for education."
Maria was clenching her teeth. "Easy for you to say, your a child of Athena. The next time we were sent home with a homework that consists of writing a sample obituary, I swear, the next is Beets'." She said walking into one of the stalls. The rest of us laughed.
We walked out together and figured we were the last one out. After we arrived, I was grouped with Maria, Katherine herself, and her wannabes. A total of four people to mock my awesomeness. Great.
I saw Hector wink and flex his muscles in front of a thirteen year old who seemed to fall for it. Ugh. I had a staring conversation with Lily and she seemed to understand where I was looking at because the next thing you know Lily flipped Hector onto the ground and silently muttered oops.
"Are you guys dating?" Hilly, a girl my age and has red hair, asked.
At that point, all my siblings fell to the ground laughing their heads out. I couldn't help but laugh too and fall to the ground until Katherine decided to comment.
"Freak." That stopped me. The laughter died down and Andrew helped me up. Everyone gave me glares probably thinking why is he helping her? It should be me! Well, we are just siblings and they don't know that.
Andrew winked at me then he faced the crowd. "No, actually, they're siblings. Let's continue. Group yourselves accordingly!" Then the whistle blew. "We are going to play a mini tournament and whoever hits the bullseye will battle us for the win. And whoever wins will get the highest grade...and a kiss from either of us. If you so much describe us as...awesome. Let the contest commence!" All teams moved backwards. While my siblings moved front. Hector brushed beside me.
"Do your worst little sister!" He exclaimed whispering. He is the most annoying brother in our cabin.
Ugh. Teams took turns shooting and accidentally hits the bullseye. Sucks.
When it was our turn, we moved to the range and picked up a bow each...not before Katherine tripped me in front. The whole class laughed which was pretty embarassing.
We lined up horizontally, me being second from the left arm side. On my left was Maria and on my right was Katherine. The rest of her wannabes was at her right.
The whistle blew which meant start shooting.
I grabbed my first arrow and purposely hit the last circle of the target. Maria did the same. Katherine was getting better hits than us. We did three more arrows that was at the last circle till Katherine stopped shooting and decided to leave a comment on my arrows.
She laughed. "You can't even shoot at least one more circle nearer. And your so slow at shooting. Pretty sure you earned that from your dad. I'm sure you and Maria are really related. Sloths." The whole class laughed once again. My siblings shot worried faces.
My eyes twitched. My knuckles turned white. "That's it! I'm done! All of you shut up!" The laughter died down. I picked up my last six arrows, aimed at all six target at once, then shot. All my arrows flew as everyone was watching. Five of my arrows hit the bullseye on my, Katherine's, and her wannabes targets making Katherine's and her wannabes arrows on the target fly away with such force emitted by my arrows. The last arrow was countered by an arrow Maria shot after I shot. The two arrows crossed together. Making my arrow puncture Maria's. The two arrows fell together connected. "That was what I earned from my dad." I said scowling. All their eyes went to me and Maria.
"Next time," Maria said. "Don't include your anger to my target."
My sibling clapped. "Well done! Magnificent show!" Hector said. "Now, your cover's blown."
I groaned. "Shut up Hector."
"I'll write your obituary if you don't stop." Hector's eyes widened as Maria spoke.
"You wouldn't dare." Hector said. "Right sis?"
"Nah."
Maria smirked. "I got the permission from your sister. I'll kill you first then bring you back."
Lily decided to cut in. "So, class, I'm Lily, this is Hector, Andrew, Kate, and Clarice. We are children of Apollo. Clarice was sent here with her friends, Maria, daughter of Hades, Irene, daughter of Demeter, Elyza, daughter of Hermes., and Steffi, daughter of Athena, to watch this school and learn. But, now their cover's blown. Gracias to you, Katherine Beets, you annoy a daughter of Apollo by bringing her shine level down."
Katherine's eyes widened. "That's impossible! She's just a loser who sticks with other losers. Plus, you guys are lying! I'm a true daughter of Zeus! I can sense you are pure mortals. All of you are my subjects."
I was getting irritated that I shot her with my private celestial bronze bow and arrow. I was expecting it to pass through her but instead it went straight through her heart. Then she died falling down.
Irene face palmed. "You've got to be kidding me." Everyone stared at the murder I did.
Maria had a big smile on her face. She brought out her notebook in writing obituaries. "What did I tell you? I'll write it as my homework? I'm psychic."
I glared at her. "Seriously? You take this as an opportunity while you could go to hell and do something worth it!"
She looked at me into the eyes. "Okay, okay! You don't have to be so harsh. Fine. I'll write this later." Then she disappeared.
"Where did she go?" Fiona, a wannabes of Katherine, asked.
Elyza shrugged. "To get the soul of Katherine in the underworld. Turns out she's a demigod." Lily examined the wound.
"I'll patch this up in a second." She brought out her demigod medicine kit. In a few minutes, it looked just like a scar that was fading away.
Then the gym turned dark. Appeared Nico and Maria. "What the Hades-" the ground started rumbling. "Sorry dad. What in the name of Zeus-" then a thunder came along with low laughter from underground. "I'm trying to talk here. Okay. What in the name of Perseus Jackson is she doing in the underworld? I told you guys to watch her!" Then he looked at Katherine's lifeless body then face palmed. "Oh my gosh." He snapped his fingers then a ghost hovered beside him. It looked like Katherine.
The doors burst open and in came Percy Jackson. "Di Angelo! Why are you using my name."
Nico groaned. "Ugh. Just get in there. I have to go." The ghost melted inside Katherine then her heart beated again. "Take her with you." Then he disappeared. I sense Katherine was a daughter of Aphrodite.
"Is that the Percy Jackson?" A girl asked.
Percy smiled. "The one and only."
Elyza groaned. "Yeah, yeah. Now shoo!" She waved her hands then Percy disappeared.
"Okay!" I clapped then frowned. "Class is over. I pass this or I will send an arrow to each and every one of your heads." Then turned for one last saying before we leave. "Elyza, would you be kind enough to, I don't know, empty your pockets? We got like a whole store in camp just for kids of Hermes. Plus, I just heard Travis bought something for Katie. I think a good ol' prank for your dad is not so bad." Elyza smirked and pulled out wallets, glasses, pure money from her pockets then we all casually walk out. "Cover blown."
