She stood at the edge of the building, threatening to fall. One. Two. Three stories high. Her feet halfway off the ledge; the heels of her shoes her only balance. No one understood her, everyone's words were meaningless. It seemed as if her world was crashing down. Her tears like shards of glass, slid down her fragile face. They didn't believe her when she said she wanted to die. They didn't care when she left the house with the scars down her arms. They didn't remember she had attempted it once before. Her breathing, unsteady as she looked down below. The distance that kills. The fierce wind blew, almost as if wanting to push her over. Over to the other side. They said they would be there for her. But then again, they said a lot of lies. Below cars honked, people screamed for help. 'Help her, save her.' They didn't really care. False hopes and lies, that's all she ever heard. She wanted something real, something that was meaningful. Her phone buzzed and buzzed from inside the pocket of her jeans. With shaky hands the pulled it out, dropping it over the edge. It spiraled down to earth with a crash below, breaking into several pieces like her heart had. She listened to the pattern as the rain started to fall, splashing against the concrete. Another gust of wind threatened to push her off. The sound of sirens, ringing in her ears. 'Don't do it, don't jump' people pleaded in agony. The agony that stings. Her long brown hair blew in front of her face, blocking her vision of the world. Without another thought, she stepped off the building, quickly falling back down towards earth. The pain shot through her as the darkness engulfed her, swallowed her whole. Screams were silenced. Sirens died. Nothing was heard, except the faint beating of her heart, slipping away.
