“L..Logan?” I asked, as my voice cracked. I was nervous and it was clearly showing. Logan looked at me like I was someone he had never known before.
“Alecia.. h.. hey.. how have you been?” Logan replied. He also seemed nervous. I couldn’t believe this was Logan i was looking at. He had changed so much. He was actually good looking. Wow. I was actually thinking that my ex best friend whom i hadn’t seen in seven years was good looking. Why Alecia?
“um.. yeah I've been good, how about yourself?” I reply. It was so awkward.
“yeah, yeah, good thanks..” Logan replied, as he looked in every direction but mine. Awkward silence. How fantastic. Luckily Lindsey walked in at just the right moment and saved the awkwardness from getting any worse.
“I see you two have caught up!” Lindsey said.
“ah.. yeah” Logan replies, unconvincingly. I just stand and nod my head slightly.
Before I knew it, everyone was back inside and we had moved into the lounge room to talk. I, of course, just sat there, trying my very hardest not to make eye contact with logan.
“you know what guys?” Larry begun. “we have a lovely 5 bedroom holiday house on the beach. I think we should all go and spend a few weeks over there. What do we think?” Larry asked, curiously.
Mom and dad exchanged looks. I was so desperately hoping they would say no. I was wrong.
“of course! We’d love to!” dad replied, ecstatically. Oh great, I thought. Just what I need for my summer vacation.
All thorough the night my parents, Lisa, Lindsey and Larry were having the best time, while Logan and I didn’t say boo to each other. How incredibly awkward. The night seemed to drag on and on, but soon it was 1:30am.
“come on girls, its past midnight!” dad said. “Larry, Lisa, thank you so much for dinner it was lovely. Great to catch up!”
“you are most welcome guys. Oh before I forget! We leave for the holiday house on Monday! Be ready by 10am, we’ll pick yous up then.” Larry told us.
Monday. That was two days away. Fantastic. Can't wait.
