CHAPTER FOUR
The first day at the holiday house was ... Nice. Logan and I didn't talk much though, and I was beginning to think I shouldn't have asked him to walk on the beach later on. But it was too late. It was around 5pm and we were getting ready for dinner. I wanted to dress nicely because we were going out to a fancy restaurant. I wore my skater skirt and a nice t shirt with my wedges. Dinner was very loud, dad, mom, Lisa and Larry were all talking to each other, but Logan and I just sat there.
After dinner we made our way back to the house. It was around 8 o'clock now. As soon as we walked in I felt someone grab my arm.
'Hey, you wanna go down to the beach now?' Logan said
'Uh sure, just let me go change into my flip flops and ill be ready' I replied, with a smile.
I ran upstairs took my wedges off, put my flip flops on and did a check of my hair and makeup. I went back downstairs to meet Logan at the front door.
'Ready!'
Logan laughed. 'Alright, let's go'
The walk down to the beach was rather awkward, but lucky it was only just across the road.
'So how are you?' Logan asked, breaking the silence.
'Im good thanks,' I smiled. 'How about you?'
'Yeah, not bad, not bad' he replied
I had a feeling the conversation was going to end there. I didn't want it to end, so I made myself change the subject. But the subject I chose, was the worst possible subject I could have chosen. We were walking right along the waters edge, and the moonlight looked brilliant on the water.
' Logan. What happened between us? We were best friends' I said
Logan stopped, and it took me a few steps before I stopped too and looked back at him with questioning eyes.
'You told me you didn't want me to care about you anymore, Alecia. That's what happened.' He replied, and I could see the hurt in his eyes. He continued walking ahead of me, and I had to jog to keep up.
'Yeah, I .. I know I said that.. But you couldn't have thought I was actually serious about it..' I replied quietly
'You didn't see your face that day, Alecia. Your eyes said it all, you genuinely looked like you meant it." Logan said, looking at the sand.
It was silent for what felt like forever. Then out of nowhere, Logan spoke.
'Look, it's clear things are going to stay awkward between us now. Maybe we should just go home." He suggested. My heart sank. I really wanted things to get better between us, but now just wasn't the time. I felt tears building up but I tried my hardest to keep them in.
We reached the house and I went to step inside.
'Hey um, can you tell my dad I'm going for a bit of a walk? Ill be back soon.' Logan asked me.
'Sure' I replied, trying to smile. It didn't work. As I walked inside Larry and Lisa saw me.
'Hey sweetie, where's Logan?' Lisa asked
'Oh, uh, he said he was going for a walk. He'll be back soon.' I said, and raced up to my room. I sat on the bed and I let the tears escape.
I was sat on my bed just staring into space. I had no idea what to do.
There was a knock on my door.
'Alecia? Honey? Are you alright?' I heard my moms voice come from the other side of the door.
I cleared my throat.
'Yeah mom! I'm fine!' I said, hoping it was believable. It wasn't. There was a slight crack in my voice when I said I was fine, and my mom, being my mom, She picked it up immediately.
'Youre not fine sweetheart. Can I come in?'
There was no point arguing so I let her come in. As soon as she saw my tear stained face she rushed over and gave me a huge hug.
'Whats wrong my angel?' She asked, comfortingly
It's.. It's nothing mom, really.' I replied
'I know my daughter, and I know when she's not fine. But if you don't want to talk about it, I'm not going to force you.' My mom said. She was so comforting.
She had her arms wrapped around me, and was telling me everything was going to be alright.
'Mom.. It's logan. That's what's wrong,' I finally said, and I broke down crying again.
'Oh sweetie, what happened? She asked, concerned.
I told her everything. From the very start. That very first fight we had, to now.
