Today was going to be a good day, Amerie could feel it within her bones and leaving the sanctuary of her clans dwelling she danced along to the morning sounds of the forest waking up. Golden beams of sunlight filled with the sparkle and promise of a new day broke through the trees canopies above her like guiding lights that led her to the forest edge. She paused there, as all cautious creatures would and her nose studied the scents on the breeze while her ears searched for anything to fear, but all that was found was the familiar bubbling of the nearby stream, un-bothered by the early time of the day, calling her to go farther still.

There were no other beings around; not a faerie, animal or even a human and as naked as the day she was born she carried on until the grass and sand beneath her feet turned to pebble and stone and she stepped into the cold liquid, melting into the water as if she had always been a part of it. Despite the icy temperature, she knew it was not the reason behind the way her skin was tingling with what could only be described as shocks of electricity. Since she did not understand it, she simply chose to ignore it as in her mind she reasoned there could not possibly be anything worth worrying about on a day such as this.

Amerie floated along under the surface while staring up to the morning sky and with her vision distorted the world appear so much more interesting. The lack of variation to her days left her feeling bored and finding some enjoyment with her swim helped improve her mood. Moving along with the ease of a fish, Amerie enjoyed being a part of the underwater realm where she was easily able to imagine being the only inhabitant apart from the odd creatures that looked at the invader with their bulging eyes and flapping mouths.

It was not permitted to go this far downstream, but for the young faerie who still sought to push the boundaries of her kinds authority; it wasn't far enough. Coming to a stop she moved to the surface, where again that feeling of warning had her skin reacting to the unknown and since she was so far from help, she emerged cautiously. Her now wet hair clung to every curve of her skull and as she stood completely, it was as she turned to look behind her she froze finally understanding what was happening.

Human.

Derek had woken earlier than the rest of his troop; playing babysitter to the groups of so-called scientists was not what he had in mind for a good time. Although considering how his life had changed, maybe it was. People were few and far between these days, the majority he had the pleasure of dealing with didn't say much. Typically they would only curse or threaten him and he let his shotgun do the talking, yet even if he had been a big talker the sight of the angelic woman appearing from nowhere in the stream he was using to wake himself from sleep left him speechless.

The last time a beautiful woman had appeared before him he had found out he was a werebear. That instinct he had learned to listen to in the last couple of months told him this wasn't the same as the one who called herself Devony which didn't help him at all.

Like the fat trout that had floated alongside her, Derek's mouth opened and closed breathlessly while Amerie was just as shocked. She expected to come across a bear, maybe even a wolf, but never a human. She had never seen one so close; in fact she had never seen a real one at all. The Elders formed imaginary creations of the beasts, horribly ugly mortals that they were told would only try to kill them and they should never come in to contact with their kind. This one was much to handsome to even be considered the same species.

To Amerie, Derek did not appear to be set on ultimate destruction or like he wanted to trap her to use her magic for his own evil purpose. Instead he seemed completely perplexed about her as she was him and all Derek could do was continue to stare as slowly the lithe figure turned to face him completely.

Long almost silver wet hair stuck to her body, despite it covering her chest he could still see the curves of her womanly build, something he hadn't had a chance to admire on any female for a long time, not since Ebony and definitely not in such naked glory. This mirage had the same fragile build of a dancer with long graceful limbs and even the smallest thought of comparing the two made him feel unfaithful, snapping him out of his trance.
