Chapter 12:

~~~~Emily’s POV~~~~
Two weeks had past and I had fallen into a deep depression. We tried to find her, the police even tried but it was a lost case, nothing we could do. My blue eyes had become duller and my hair was alway in a messy bun. I never got out of bed unless Ava ordered me too.
Ava was all I had, I couldn’t look at Tom or his family because they looked like my Jaime. It killed me to see their mum still with a smile on her face while tears ran down mine. I just couldn’t stay happy!
Ava had changed also but in a way to refresh herself. Her hair was cut shorter and only just reached her shoulders and we both had new tattoos. They said Jaime’s name and meant a lot to us, hers was on her hip while mine was on my wrist so then I could see it when ever I wanted.
“Em, time to get up sweetie!” Ava’s voice drifted throughout the house we had bought. It was small with three bedrooms, two bathrooms, a cute kitchen and lounge room.
“I don’t wanna” I mumbled and with that my door was pushed open with great force.
“Emily you are getting up no matter what! Put some warm clothes on and sneakers.” Her face was serious and deadly and I slowly got out of bed. I sluggishly put clothes on and headed to Ava’s car.
“What do you want now?” I whined as she put a few bags in the car.
“We are going camping!” She giggled with a huge smile and with that I headed back to the house, “oh no you don’t!” Ava grabbed my arm and nearly flung me into the car.
“But I don’t want to go camping!” I spat out upset that she was making me leave the house.
“You are going camping or else!” She threatened and started the car.
Soon we had been driving for a few hours and stopped at a camp site. I mumbled something inappropriate with made Ava hit me and slam the car door. She opened mine and the smell of fresh air hit me... hard. The trees around us were dancing happily in the wind and the statement ‘the grass is greener on the other side’ had never been so true. I heard children running around, laughing and having fun. I could smell the BBQs cooking and Adults chatting... I wanted to go to bed. This was too much.
“I can’t do this” I whispered to Ava.
“Yes you can, Emily, please. What if we never find her, you will have to keep on living your life... for her!” Tears ran down her cheeks as she spoke, “that’s what I am doing, I am living for Jaime, for the days she is missing out on. Can’t you do the same?”
“I tried Ava, I really did. But I can’t live without her.” I bit my lip and held mack the tears, “fine, I will go camping with you but please, don’t expect me to do anything else.”
“Thank you...” She whispered as she went to the back of the car and grabbed the bags. She threw one at me and I rolled my eyes. I can’t believe she was making me do this... Camping of all things!
~~
Night has come and we were sitting around the fire roasting marshmallows. The flames danced around and it made me calm. The reflection of the flames where shown in Ava’s eyes as she watch them, I could see her crying back she didn’t wipe the tears away.
“There is another reason why I did this” she spoke up, “I used to go camping with Jaime when we were kids... In the bush, not as nice as this but it was the closest I could get to her. I’m sorry.”
I moved over to her and held her, letting all her tears fall onto me. She was Jaime’s best friend once, before Blake came... It wasn’t her fault. I couldn’t blame her anymore. So I just held her, held her until she stopped crying.
“Ava, I’m sorry also.” I said with a small smile.
“Wh-what for?” She mumbled.
I sighed, “I blamed you, for everything, but now I see it wasn’t really your fault.”
She nodded her head in acceptance, “I see, but parts where my fault. I was just to dumb to understand at the time.
Soon she was telling me funny stories about Jaime, I’d say if Jaime was here she would be so embarrassed but it put a smile on both of our faces. Then I heard a noise, someone stepped on a twig snapping it in two. We both bit our lips looking around for the person but saw no one. A growl radiated in the woods sending a shiver down my spine, and I heard a soft giggle, looks like she got the reaction she wanted from us.
“I know that giggle...” Ava whispered with shock written on her face and then it hit me.
“”Jaime...”
