A Visit.

Chapter Eight: A Visit.

Jessica's POV: After

    I can't wait until I get home and get to crawl into the warmth and comfort of my own bed. Today was my long day at the diner and since I was up most of last night with Elliot I felt like dying from over exhaustion. Luckily the journey home was really short and after I went to see Elliot I headed straight for my bedroom. Except once my head hit the pillow it seemed as though my mind did not want to shut up.

    The first thought that came to my mind was tomorrow and how tomorrow is Sunday meaning it is the weekly Grant/Turner Dinner Extravaganza. Last weeks went by without a hitch because both the boys had to stay on base and couldn't attend dinner but this week is a completely different story because they are for sure coming. The last time I saw Parker was at the diner two weeks ago and that definitely was one of the most confusing conversations I have ever had with Parker. When I had gotten back to work after my break he was leaning at the front counter and I knew that it wasn't a good sign...

    "You shouldn't have forgiven him." Parker said to me the moment I was within earshot. I rolled my eyes at that comment, it wasn't his place to tell me who I could and couldn't forgive.

    "I'm just saying that because what he said to you was awful and you shouldn't have to endure that from anybody especially Daniel" Parker continued sympathetically. What Parker didn't realize is that I have dealt with people who have been much more insulting than my brother. I didn't tell him that though because I really don't want or need sympathetic looks from him.

    "I appreciate your concern Parker but the truth is that Daniel had a right to be mad at me. I'm not excusing what he said but I also kept a huge secret from him and that will always be something I regret. I should have just been open and honest in the first place and then maybe I wouldn't have been as scared about the outcome." I felt tears gather in my eyes and I knew that I wasn't just talking about Daniel anymore. If I didn't get Parker out of here soon I knew that I was going to tell him everything and that was not going to be a good thing.

    Parker surprised me though when he changed the subject before I had the chance to do anything about my sudden emotional almost-breakdown. "How's Elliot doing?"

    "He's, um, he's actually really good. Thank you for asking." I told him honestly. Parker smiled brightly and before I knew it I was smiling too, I really missed being with him.

    "I've really missed you Jess. I hope now that I'm back I get to see you more often and get to make up for lost time." Parker said, taking the words 'I miss you' right out of my mouth.

    "I really missed you too Parker." I told him honestly. "I was really scared that you guys weren't going to come back for a long time but I'm really, really glad to have you home."

    "Good cause you are not going to be able to get rid of me that easily. I want to be with you still, Jess, even if you don't want anyone right now I'm not going to stop trying. I'm not letting you slip through my fingers, again." Parker confidently admitted without even blinking an eye at how crazy he sounded right now. Then before I could even reply he stood up, leaned across the counter that was separating us and kissed my forehead before he turned and left without even glancing back to see my shocked expression. Little did he know that for the entire night I could still feel his lips pressed against my head.

    Looking back on that moment I could still remember the determined look that he had on his face as he told me exactly what he was going to do now that he was back. I can't even imagine what is going to happen tomorrow when I see him but I know that tomorrow is going to be one chaotic day and the suspense to see what will happen is practically killing me.

    "I still can't get over the fact that my baby sister had a baby. Seriously it's the weirdest thing that I can't seem to wrap my head around." Daniel said in astonishment as he looked from me to Elliot who was currently sleeping in his arms. I laughed because ever since he stepped foot into the house he had been telling me nonstop that to him it was the craziest thing that I, his younger sister, had actually had a baby.

    "You'll have to get over the shock eventually you do know that right?" I teased. He in turn stuck his tongue out at me like the little kid I knew him to be. As we continued to banter like we used too the door bell rang which surprised all of us since it was only ten and we weren't expecting anybody until mid afternoon. Daniel looked over at me to see if I knew who it could be and I shrugged. He then stood up, handed me Elliot, and then walked suspiciously to the door.

    "Hey, what are you doing here this early?" Daniel asked the mysterious person on the other side of the door. From my perspective I couldn't see who it was but I definitely had my suspicions. I heard shuffling and the pattering of feet and when I looked up I saw the face that had consumed my thoughts the entire night before.

    "Parker?" I questioned not completely sure if I was actually seeing who was in front of me or if it was just a figment of my imagination.

    "Jessica?" Parker sarcastically shot back, imitating my surprised voice except he completely exaggerated the way my voice actually sounds.

    "What are you doing here?" I asked deciding to ignore his offensive imitation. His face brightened when he saw my expression though, I guess I'm not really good at hiding what I'm thinking. Instead of answering he looked down at Elliot who was squirming in my arms. Then before either of us said anything else Daniel suggested that they go out to the backyard to see if my dad needed any help.

    "What's Parker doing here sweetie?" My mom came into the living room questioning me. I was still confused about that fact to so instead of telling my mom that I don't know like any normal person would have I told her what was on my mind.

    "I don't think he believes me..."
